About this property

Best known for its enclosing red sandstone Roman walls, the city of Chester which was first founded as a Roman fortress and is a wonderful area for shopping and sightseeing. Hidcote is a wonderful family-friendly cottage just a short walk away from the bustling town centre. Within the property, there are three bedrooms, including a king-size, double and twin room, not forgetting the sofa bed in the sitting area, so even Grandma and Grandad can come along too. Downstairs features an open-plan living space, with a different area around each corner, it’s the perfect place to gather the troops in the morning before heading off on a walk over the walls to the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben; Eastgate Clock. Before setting off on your day of exploration, head to kitchen’s breakfast bar to grab a morning coffee before preparing a fry-up for the family, all while watching the kids play with the dogs in the back garden through the floor-to-ceiling windows, perfect for a summer’s day of sunshine to warm up the room. The back garden features a private enclosed space with a decking, patio, and lawn area, where you can chat until the sun sets before heading upstairs for a restful night’s sleep. Upon waking, be sure to grab your bikes from the shed and cycle past the River Dee, where you can see ducks, waterfront restaurants and even occasionally an orchestra playing on the band stand. Stop for an ice cream and head to the front of the river where you can hire a variety of boats to float across the river and take in the scenes of the quaint town. Walk through Grosvenor Park into the centre of the town where you can find two-tier shopping across the Tudor-style half-timber rows, with a mixture of independent and highstreet shops, you’ll be spoilt for choice on where to select the perfect gift for your relatives back at home. Once you’ve seen the sights of the city centre, not forgetting the beautiful Cathedral, boasting 1,000 years of architectural history, or the Roman Amphitheatre, in between beer breaks at the wide range across the city, head to the world-famous Chester Zoo, one of the UK’s largest, this zoo offers boat trips, exotic and endangered species you’ve never seen, and all-round family fun. If the walk on the walls wasn’t enough Snowdonia National Park is just under 50 miles away from the city of Chester, offering panoramic views of North Wales, it’s a must-see for all avid walkers. Hidcote is a lovely property, just a short walk from the action of Chester’s city centre, perfect for the whole family to relax and rejuvenate.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
