The Nest, Dewlands Common is situated in the small East Dorset town of Verwood on the Hampshire border. The Nest is a single story cottage, attached to the owner’s property ‘Primrose Cottage’. It comprises a spacious entrance hall, one leading to a double bedroom with kingsize bed, bathroom with large shower and open plan fully fitted kitchen, dining area and lounge which leads onto a small conservatory and patio area. Bikes can be stored in the conservatory. There is a parking area for one car immediately outside the entrance to The Nest. A charging pod for electric cars is available on request and negotiation with the owner. The Nest is approached along an unmade lane. It is ideally situated for walkers and cyclists or those who want to travel further afield by car or bus. The nearest bus stop is approx. 100mts along the lane. Buses travel to Bournemouth via Ringwood or to Poole. Dewlands Common is an area of SSSI and is one of Dorset’s protected heathlands, home to many rare species such as the sand lizard and Dartford Warbler. Roe Deer are often spotted grazing and have been known to come into the garden. Being only 100 metres from the property the common makes an ideal place for an early morning or evening stroll. Longer walks/cycles can be continued in various directions from here. Over the last 40 years Verwood has developed from a village into a small town but has maintained its village feel. The village centre is 10 minutes walk where you will find coffee shops and a few local shops including a specialist butchers, Tesco Express, post office and bank. There is also a recreation ground and children’s play area. There are 3 pubs and a large Morrisons supermarket also under a mile away. Verwood also offers a number of take away food outlets. However there are numerous country pubs/restaurants within a short drive. The Nest is approximately a mile from The New Forest Caravan and Camping site so ideal for families wishing to holiday together. Opposite this site is Crane Valley Golf Club. Verwood is ideally situated for visiting the beautiful Moors Valley Country Park and all it has to offer. It can be accessed free of charge via Potterne Park in Verwood. Travel easterly to the New Forest with its beauty and abundance of wildlife is only 15 minutes by car and can be approached via the New Forest towns of Fordingbridge or Ringwood or cycle through Ringwood Forest from Verwood; or discover the National Park in the open top tourist bus. The historic village of Cranborne with its Manor House, gardens, garden centre and tea room is 10 minutes away. Slightly further north is Martin Down Nature Reserve, a vast area with ever changing fauna and flora. Also in this direction is the Cathedral City of Salisbury with its twice weekly open air markets. The cathedral is home to the original Magna Carta and boasts Britain’s tallest spire. The ancient bustling town of Wimborne Minster is 20 minutes drive south west of Verwood. Just outside Wimborne is Kingston Lacy NT with its house and garden and routes for dog walkers and cyclists on the wider estate. To the west of Verwood you can discover the whole of Dorset and its pretty villages. Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole are 30 minutes drive south or go further west to the Isle of Purbeck to visit Studland, Corfe Castle NT and Swanage, or visit Brownsea Island by boat in the stunning Poole Harbour. There are numerous tourist attractions in the New Forest and East Dorset. “Having lived in Verwood for over 40 years we appreciate how fortunate we are to live in such a diverse and beautiful area. Verwood is a lovely town found within the eastern region of Dorset, in close proximity to Hampshire and Wiltshire. The town is a brilliant place to explore by foot, surrounded by farmland and countryside, you're sure to see an abundance of nature.
