This fabulous Lakeland farmhouse situated in the Troutbeck Valley has been redeveloped as a luxury 4 star retreat, whilst retaining most of enchanting original features. Thick stone walls, open fires and original stone flagged floors make for a stylish backdrop for the modern facilities and creature comforts. Robin Cottage is perfectly laid out for sociable gatherings, there’s a fire warmed dining room for family meals as well as a lovely country kitchen for hearty breakfasts.
Warm days can be spent living al-fresco in the large enclosed garden, a real treat for kids. The two king size bedroom suites are beautifully finished, with wonderful views and further bedrooms provide flexible accommodation for friends, family or walking groups. Just a stroll away from an excellent pub serving great food and local ale.

There’s also a separate dining room with an oak table and open fire. The lounge has a wood burning stove, comfy sofas and patio doors leading to the enclosed gardens. On the first floor, there’s a king size en suite bedroom, a master double with en suite and twin bedroom, all of which overlook the garden and you’ll catch glimpses of Lake Windermere. Plus, there’s a further double bedroom and house bathroom. Guests are welcome to use upright piano that is housed in the dining room.
The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
