If you don’t fancy cooking then the Victoria Hotel and Masons Arms are just a couple of minutes’ walk away. If you can pull yourself away from this inviting cottage, explore the local gems of Norham, starting perhaps with the ancient ruins of Norham Castle, standing tall on the banks of the River Tweed. Find yourself journeying towards the picturesque town of Berwick-upon-Tweed where you can partake in thrilling Berwick Boat Trips, visit the dramatic remains at Berwick-upon-Tweed Castle and Ramparts, or delve into local history at the King's Own Scottish Borderers Regimental Museum.

Plan day trips along the Northumberland coastline including visits to Bamburgh and Holy Island or the Scottish Borders and coastal villages of St Abbs and Coldingham before returning to your snug retreat at Dromore Cottage. Your Northumberland adventure starts here.

The historic village of Norham is most famous for its splendid Norman Castle ruins overlooking the River Tweed, painted by Turner in 1845. The village has an excellent butcher and bakery, a Post Office, grocer, newsagent and two pubs. Also nearby in the village of Allanton is a good restaurant which is great for fishing and shooting parties as well as the Cross Inn at Paxton. Berwick-upon-Tweed is just 7 miles away, at the northern tip of Northumberland’s beautiful Heritage Coast, boasting many restaurants, cafes, pubs and a nearby links golf course. The Scottish capital of Edinburgh or the city of Newcastle are easily accessed by train from Berwick. A superb base for exploring all North Northumberland has to offer.
