Situated on the northern outskirts of the Northumberland National Park, this former farm-workers’ cottage is great for families or couples who enjoy exploring the great outdoors. Nestled amongst undulating lush green hills, this rural retreat offers guests the opportunity to discover the Cheviot Hills, the Scottish Borders and the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Despite its tranquil position in the countryside, you’re only 4 miles from the village of Cornhill-on-Tweed with its pub and award-winning shop.
Well presented throughout, light tones and warm, muted colours create a welcoming country cottage feel. Three steps lead up to the door from which you’ll find yourself in the hallway. From here, enter the spacious lounge/diner where you can enjoy a meal together before snuggling up in front of the roaring open fire. Large windows frame the beautiful views and allow light to pour in. Simple, yet well equipped, the kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook up some treats. Completing the ground floor is a utility room and boot room. Upstairs, you’ll be treated to yet more stunning views from both the charming bedrooms. There is a bathroom and a shower room. Outside, there’s a quiet garden 5 metres from the property, which is a great place for a coffee or a meal.
There are plenty of walks from your doorstep but venturing further afield there’s lots on offer. Market towns Coldstream, Kelso and Wooler (all within 11 miles) offer a range of independent shops and eateries. Heading to the coast, be sure to visit the magnificent Bamburgh Castle (25.5 miles) sitting proudly above the long, sandy beach. Holy Island, Lindisfarne (21 miles) also has an impressive castle, spectacular scenery and an abundance of wildlife to see. Or why not take a boat from Seahouses (29 miles) to see the puffins on the Farne Isles.
