Pooley Bridge (15 miles) sits at the tip of Ullswater; head here for water sports such as kayaking, or hop on the Steamers cruise and soak up the views. The historic market town of Penrith is 10 miles away and is home to lots of shops, restaurants, pubs and bars. Visit the historic stone circle, Long Meg (3.5 miles) or enjoy a stroll alongside the River Eden. If you prefer more challenging climbs, try Cross Fell (12 miles) or Thack Moor (3 miles).
