    Maggi – 11 Nov 2019
"We had a great stay but came home early for personal reasons, however, the only complaint we had was that the bed was quite firm and had no give in it. Other than that it was a lovely cottage, very cosy."
    Confirmed guest – 4 Nov 2019
"This cosy and comfortable cottage was just right for a short break for the two of us and our Golden Retriever! The owner was very welcoming and exceedingly helpful."
    Ian – 31 Oct 2019
"Really cosy cottage - ideal for the two of us plus our dog Charlie. Eileen was a lovely host who even welcomed us to the cottage with a complementary pack of local Bakewell tarts. The village is small - note there is no shop out of season - but does boast 2 pubs 200 yards apart that are welcoming with a good selection of food / drink (be aware however that out of season neither offer any hot food on a Sunday night). Eileen also has a small holding / farm which has chickens and miniature ponies attached to the cottage (which Charlie our spaniel found fascinating). Local area very pretty with access to good scenic walks including disused railway routes (e.g Monsal Head). Self catering perfectly possible in the galley kitchen of the cottage but if you want to go into town (coffee shops / restaurants / take away) then Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock and Matlock Bath all within easy reach. A nice relaxed long weekend and we hope to visit again in the spring."

"Perfect location for walks. Simple small accommodation, with all the required facilities. Owner of the cottage is very friendly and on hand to help with things if needed. We have one large Border Collie and he loved it. Wouldn’t think that you could have more than this if bringing pets though, as the living room/kitchen area is snug (perfect for us). Birchover has two pubs and that’s it, so don’t expect a village shop. The pubs are friendly though and I’d thoroughly recommend this place to stay if you have a dog and want to go walking everywhere. It’s also close to Bakewell if supplies are needed. We’ll definitely return to stay again."

    Pamela – 6 Jul 2019
"Very friendly welcome a few points which were sorted out promptly."
    Bryony – 23 Jun 2019
"The Stables was in a very pretty village called Birchover. If the weather had been better then we would have sat in the garden. The pub was opposite the cottage. Unfortunately it rained most of the week which made walking difficult. The owner of the property was very helpful and approachable.Overall an OK holiday."
    Jane – 20 Jun 2019
"Lovely setting. Ideal location for country break. Had a wonderful time with lovely walks with dog. Highly recommend the Druid Inn for service and food and only a few steps away from accommodation. Lovely lady who owns the cottage. Would return."
    S – 22 Apr 2019
"Landlady very welcoming and accommodating. Everything we could need in terms of equipment for a short break."
    LISA – 16 Apr 2019

"Very comfortable accommodation and friendly reception. Really clean and well equipped. Beautifully located with lots of walks on the doorstep. Shame about the weather but it didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves. Definitely recommend a stay here."
    Becky – 12 Dec 2018
"A really lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful village. Close to lots of places to walk and places to visit. The owner was very welcoming and the cottage was warm and had everything we needed. We are already planning a return visit.I would strongly recommend this property for an escape from the hustle and bustle of life."
    Confirmed guest – 9 Dec 2018
"A lovely cosy little cottage only a 10 minute drive from bakewell, some great walks right on the door step so no need to drive anywhere. Our host was very friendly and helpful."
    Ruth – 8 Nov 2018
"A lovely cosy cottage, in peaceful surroundings. We took our dog away for 4 nights, ( Nov. 2 - 6th.) to escape the noise of fireworks. He is terrified of them.Eileen made us very welcome and supplied us with milk and Bakewell tarts on arrival. There are plenty of interesting places to visit, including the Nine Ladies Stone Circle just up the road. There are 2 pubs in the village and we ate at both. Would recommend the Red Lion, but not the Druid Inn, for food."
