Be lord or lady of the manor at this charming, historic Grade II* listed house. The Old Manor at Dunster dates back to around 1400, where it is believed the Constable of Dunster Castle lived. Being a house of a certain age, the interior of the manor contains many interesting architectural features including its own chapel. From the impressive great hall with grand open fireplace, to the stunning solar room and charming gardens, complete with orchard, including apples, pear and plums, the house is sure to provide you with a memorable holiday. The spacious living areas are complimented with lovely bedrooms, most benefiting from en-suite facilities. This historical landmark property is ideal for extended families or small groups to gather for a special occasion.

From The Old Manor, you can walk down to the beach, or just up the lane is Dunster Station, which is part of the West Somerset Steam Railway network. The medieval village of Dunster with its impressive castle (National Trust) is a short distance away, as well as a good range of local shops and restaurants. The coastal town of Minehead is nearby, with its promenade, historic harbour and a good range of larger shops and other amenities. Minehead is also the starting point of the South West Coastal Path. The house is ideally suited for a visit to Exmoor National Park where walking is available for all abilities and some stunning views to enjoy across the Bristol Channel. Venture out and visit the village of Porlock Weir, Selworthy and its famous tea room, and the Victorian town of Lynton and Lynmouth. Golf, fishing and horse riding are available locally. "We hired the cottage to celebrate my 60th with friends and family coming and going throughout the week. It's a fabulous property hosted by wonderful owners."
    Sparky – 26 May 2019
"Wow! what a fantastic place, perfect for a family get-together or a special celebration. Both the beach (dog friendly) and Dunster town is only a short walk away. Minehead can also be reached on foot easily at full tide. Plenty of room both in the house and gardens to loose each other or be all together. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area with the steam train being the mode of transport on many occasions.Patience is required with the cold water flow in the kitchen, I would recommend those with electronic devices to charge remember to bring along multi plug adapters as most of the sockets are already used."
    Shani – 20 Apr 2019
"The kind of house that 'makes' a holiday. Absolutely charming, full of period furniture, a great atmosphere and amazing gardens to have a barbecue in or sit and watch the sundown with a glass of wine. I honestly can't recommend it enough. Beautiful Dunster is within walking distance as is the beach, Blue Anchor (in one direction) and Minehead (in the other). Perfect for a holiday with family and friends. We will hopefully be back next year!"
    Elizabeth – 31 Mar 2019
"The Old Manor gave us much more than we expected. Every room looked as if the owner had only just left and we settled in very quickly. The furnishings enhanced the historic feel and we really felt we had gone back in time. All mod cons worked well and efficiently so we were able to stay in this century. We had a week of wall to wall sunshine and the garden being so sheltered was used throughout the day to the early evening and during our week we watched new flowers appear. The beach and Dunster were a short and enjoyable walk away and new laid eggs just around the corner. It was the perfect venue for a special birthday celebration."
    Alison – 4 Mar 2019
"11 of us stayed at The Old Manor for a weekend to celebrate my birthday. The house is amazing - full of history and yet homely and comfortable. The weather was glorious and the gardens were blooming in the early spring. We all loved our stay and would very much like to return."
    Wendy – 7 Feb 2019
"After a very stressful year for the whole family, we needed a lovely spacious retreat, and we found it , in The Old Manor."
    Paul – 19 Oct 2018
"Exceptional, historic, characterful house. Lots of space to spread out for all the guests and a good location between the beach and beautiful Dunster and the lovely forests, valleys & moors of Exmoor. We had a great time, very memorable."
