LAWN COTTAGE sleeping up to 7 guests

Located in the heart of the New Forest, this charming detached cottage enjoys a perfect location, and has direct access to the open forest. It lies just ½ mile walk from the popular village of Burley, and boasts a peaceful setting where ponies and donkeys gather outside the gate. Stylishly decorated with almost completely new furnishings, this cottage makes a wonderful home from home. The large beamed living room with an open fire is ideal for both summer and winter breaks. The delightful, secluded grounds totalling 1/3 acre completes this lovely property, which is planted with beautiful trees and shrubs throughout.
The surrounding area is a haven for wonderful cycling, walking and horse riding. Nearby, Ringwood is a bustling market town, with a number of handsome Georgian buildings lining its high street; the oldest part of the town lies by the peacefully flowing Hampshire Avon. From Bolderwood, three waymarked paths offer walkers some of the New Forest’s most beautiful scenery, with one walk taking in around 40 different species of trees. For nature lovers, Deer Meadow provides much useful information on the various types of deer that can be found, including red, roe, sika, fallow and muntjac, and the timid creatures can be observed from a platform there.
Bournemouth, with its clean sandy beaches, parks and gardens lies 15 miles distant, whilst Highcliffe and Friars Cliff beaches and fantastic sailing at Mudeford are all within 8 miles. Lymington is easily accessible and trips to the Isle of Wight can be taken. Lymington itself is a pretty busy seaside town with an attractive harbour, cobbled streets and Georgian houses. Shop ½ mile.

"The cottage itself was beautiful and the location exceptional. The cottage was let down by poor maintenance and attention to detail. On arrival no key was left for us and we had to wait for the caretaker to arrive to bring key. Things that were broken were mentioned in the visitors book but appear not to have been attended to. DVD not in working order, broken knobs on cooker making parts of it unusable, towel rail hanging off in en suite, shower loose, the toilet seat in the en suite was supposed to be white but was very discouloured (yellow) on the underside - this needs changing, door handle in twin room hanging off danger of children getting stuck in room. There were not enough towels left for us one bath and one hand towel each for two weeks. No wardrobe in double back room so had to share wardrobes (inconvenient). We could not enjoy the outside in the evenings as the outside lights were not working. We have visited many cottages over the past 20 years and this cottage if these little things were put right would get a 5* rating. We will return to the New Forest for another holiday but not to this cottage. Not up to usual standard."

"We loved the area and loved the cottage itself, but the standard of cleanliness let it down badly. We have stayed in 6 different cottages over the past 6 years and this was the least clean. That s what has brought our overall score down as everything else was good. Ideal location, ideal for the dogWe left it cleaner when we left than when we arrived!"

"Although we all enjoyed our holiday at the cottage we were disappointed to find that previous criticisms had not been addressed. Every other time we have rented a cottage we have had a tray of tea, coffee and local biscuits and even a bottle of wine and welcome card. As we had ordered Internet shopping we had to wait an hour and a half to have a cup of tea. The other items were all minor but added together we felt that we were considerably overcharged for the week."

"A well presented house and garden. It was comfortable and suited our 6 adults and one child aged 5. The kitchen/diner was excellent and well equipped. The bedrooms gave us comfortable nights sleep. The living room as a little dark but we were out and about most of the time. The garden was delightful and it was restful to sit and eat there."
    Therese
"Cottage was comfortable. Due to proximity from village, a welcome pack, i.e. teabags, milk, etc would have been appreciated. The cottage wasn't dirty, but not especially clean. The washing up bowl had a hole in it and could do with replacing."
    Deborah
"The location in the forest is fabulous and the cottage lovely. It suited our extended family made up of baby, young child with parents and grandparents. However if your party is made up of adults then the seating in the lounge is insufficient. There is no welcome pack provided not even a pint of milk or a tea bag which we found unusual as we have stayed in various cottages around the UK and owners have always provided something. The linen and towels were not of the best quality and we were short of towels. Attention to detail is needed and then this would be a superb choice."

"A warm and welcoming house, ideally-placed for walking and exploration of the wider forest area. The sitting-room and kitchen were spacious and well-found, the bedrooms comfortable, and the garden seating appreciated in the fine weather."

"Fabulous stay. Would love to return and will definitely recommend it. Thank you. "
    Lisa
"We loved this cottage. It seems to have undergone a make over so we found it very clean and tidy. Some doors (twin room and wardrobe doors in ensuite room) didn't close but totally a minor issue. The kitchen is so well equipped. Although staying for Halloween wkend we managed to sit in the peaceful garden. Very busy in the village on Halloween but brilliant fun, especially for little ones. I definately recommend a stay here!"

"Super cottage and a lovely village nearby in Burley. Best place to eat is the Queens Head. My tip is not to make the mistake I did when trying to get to Bournemouth for the first time and miss the A31 exit south - if you go on to the A31 north you have to drive many miles before you can turn around. Aug 2011. "

"Lovely property with a very good location. Nice and spacious. Beautiful new kitchen, diner. Nice big lounge. Felt very much home from home. The decor upstairs (apart from the master bedroom) could do with modernising. Feb 2011."

Wildlife wonders of deer, jays, nuthatch and bullfinch appeared The cottage is spacious inside and recently refurbished to a high standard. The furnishings and fittings are all to a high standard and very clean. Perfect location, within walking distance of Burley and central to the New Forest. May 2010. "
