Courtyard, grounds and children’s play area (shared with other properties on-site). Heated outdoor swimming pool (shared with other properties on-site, 20m x 9m, depth 0.9m-1.6m open May-September). Resident’s car park (unallocated). No smoking. Please note: There are ponds in the grounds 60 yards away.. Ivory Cottage provides accommodation on two floors. On the first floor, there are two bedrooms—a double and a second with a bunk bed. The bathroom, which includes a bath and shower, is also situated on the first floor. Downstairs, you will find an open-plan living, kitchen, and dining area with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and convenient. The kitchen is equipped with a washing machine and dishwasher. In the living room, there is an electric fire and a Smart TV.
Outside, you can enjoy the shared grounds of this large Devonshire estate, including an adjacent courtyard, an outdoor heated swimming pool and a children’s play area. The estate offers you the freedom to explore the countryside, with access to the South West Coast Path and the popular Tarka Trail, which follows a disused railway line, offering stunning river and countryside scenery.
If you head to the beach to surf or simply relax, Woolacombe offers some of the best stretches of sand in the country. It boasts three miles of golden beaches, great surfing waves, and a fantastic coastal footpath with numerous walking opportunities. Families can spend the day by the sea—lifeguarded in the summer—building sandcastles, playing beach games, and exploring rock pools for marine life. The area is also famous for its breathtaking sunsets, often enjoyed by both locals and surfers. Just 2½ miles away, Woolacombe has shops, cafés, restaurants, and even a boutique cinema in a local hotel.
Exmoor National Park, with its magical night skies in Europe’s first Dark Sky Reserve, is only 10 miles away. Lynton and Lynmouth, 19 miles to the east, offer stunning sea views, rugged cliffs, and the historic funicular cliff railway—opened in 1890, it is the highest and steepest fully water-powered railway in the world.
Nearby, you’ll find several world-class beaches such as Saunton Sands, Croyde, and Westward Ho!—all famous for their surfing, vast stretches of sand, and impressive dunes. Golfers can enjoy the Championship Links course at Saunton, just 7 miles away, while fishing opportunities are also available nearby.
For family-friendly activities, there are plenty of attractions to explore, including Exmoor Zoo, The Milky Way Adventure Park, The Big Sheep farm-themed park, Watermouth Castle family theme park, and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park.

Beautiful little cottage. Has everything you need for a break away. Beds are really comfortable, very warm and cosy. The game that was left out was a great idea. We love playing games as a family. Couldn't fault the place. Didnt have to travel that far to get to town. We couldn't find the spare keys but got intouch with someone and that was sorted really quickly. Love every min of our break. Thank you for our welcome pack.

Location wise this cottage is great for Woolacoombe. Very close to Marine Drive car park and a short distance from Woolacoombe and Illfeacoombe. The cottage itself is perfectly fine for a short break. We were there for 2 weeks and were disappointed to find that the dishwasher didn’t work. The cottage owner contacted the site manager but he never turned up. We agreed with the owner that a refund of £30 would be acceptable for the inconvenience but despite chasing the owner this was never paid. One of the primary reasons we booked this cottage and paid the extra money (as similar accommodation was available at a far cheaper price in the area) was the access to the pool. However, despite there being a booking system in place, guests don’t really adhere to this and every time we went over to use the pool it was incredibly busy and almost impossible to enjoy as it’s not a huge pool. Also, after the first few days of our holiday we noticed the water was very murky and not particularly clean looking so we didn’t even use the pool during the second week.Overall a perfectly adequate cottage, good location, however you can probably find cheaper and better value for money.
