About this property

Bowerhill 1 mile. A charming, detached barn conversion set in a peaceful location in the grounds of the owner's working arable farm, close to the small hamlet of Bowerhill in rural West Wiltshire. Comfortably furnished and well-presented, this Wiltshire cottage provides a superb holiday base for both families and groups of friends wishing to explore this lovely rural area. There is plenty of room in this Wiltshire holiday cottage, which benefits from a spacious kitchen with dining area, and a light and airy sitting room, whilst the master bedroom boasts original beams and a small sitting area, as well as en-suite facilities. Two sets of doors open out to the sunny, private patio at the rear of this Wiltshire holiday cottage, and once you've finished an alfresco meal, why not wander across to the attractive pond area, home to interesting waterfowl and dragonflies? Take a stroll across the nearby paddocks to join one of the numerous footpaths, which cross the 100 acres of farmland. Within half a mile of your Wiltshire holiday cottage, the delightful Kennet and Avon Canal provides scenic, gentle walks and cycle trails along its towpath, where you can stop for refreshment at one of the attractive waterside inns. Venture to the nearby market town of Devizes, tour the Wadworth Brewery or enjoy one of the regular narrow boat cruises, which lazily meander through the Pewsey Vale, well-known for its seasonal crop circles and the white horses etched into the chalky downland. If you're in need of a comfortable, countryside base within easy reach of numerous attractions, then look no further than this delightful Wiltshire holiday cottage.

The scattered rural hamlet of Bowerhill is situated two miles from the market town of Melksham in west Wiltshire. Beds are gorgeous and plenty of towels and toilet rolls, something which can be lacking at other places. Owners are very generous and we received a lovely welcome pack, including fresh coffee, flowers, wine, fruit , milk and biscuits. Kitchen could do with a few more bits such as wooden chopping boards, serving dishes and better quality dishclothes as they disintegrated easily. We adore the setting as it's quiet and yet you can easily access Devizes, Trowbridge, Melksham and the canals are very nearby so walking the dogs is so simple as there are large fields to roam in on the farm. We love seeing the ducks just outside the door on the pond and overall we love The Stables and will book again. Thank you for an excellent break.

Location was perfect. Crockery needs renewing chipped cups and plates. Fridge Freezer awkward as balanced on top of each other. Vertical blinds on kitchen French doors slats was missing so not private and owners dog constantly jumping at door causing our dog to bark constantly. Step down from kitchen dangerous. As a dog friendly property it needed a fence round patio area so that our dog could be let out and not constantly on a lead which was stipulated on the house rules and yet the owners 2 dogs was roaming freely which were friendly but disruptive.
