    FROGGATT – 28 Dec 2017
"Lovely cottage in a peaceful location near to North Allerton. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. We stayed for Christmas and the owners took the time to put up a tree and decorations. The Wellington Heifer pub serves tremendous food and would recommend Spring House farm shop and café."

"We had a lovely time at this cottage."

"Lovely property. sadly neglected. Drove up limited space' to exit car, got out into nettles, dandelions and general garden neglect. Slope up to property full of green slime and dirt, handrail was a ship,s rope threaded into wooden posts, green with slime and dangerous.Door threshers full of detrietus, Kitchen beautifully fitted but having no light, under cabinet lights removed and wires left dangling but safe. No light in cooker hood, had to bring bedroom lamps in order to see to cook. Lounge area, two sofas; one so low and frame not good, hard to get out of. Other, torn and foam interior poking through. Garden area lethal with moss and leaves. drains blocked with same and plants growing inside. Troughings blocked with moss and plant life. Like Niagra Falls when it rained. Spent half hour cleaning up last years leaves. We contacted the owners daughter who offered a partial refund which we accepted.Such a shame to neglect what could be a lovely holiday cottage Needs inspection."

"The place was lovely and clean. We are not dog owners and place excepts dogs and place surprisingly never smelt of dogs which is really good for people that don't have dogs. The oven was quite tricky to use so could not really use it. Other than that the place was lovely and had a great time"

"A total disappointment!! We arrived to a property that needed a total deep clean and refresh. Cobwebs everywhere, on door frames, ceilings, across cupboards. Spiders in every room. One of the sofas in the living room had a big tear in the seat. The property is suitable for dogs. Great, as we have dogs, but that doesn't mean I expect the windows to be so filthy inside from previous tenants dogs that I can't see out of them! The bedrooms: we were greeted by a tidy bedroom, with bedding that was in desperate need of an iron. It was totally screwed up. I did wonder if it had been washed.... The beds were comfortable, if only the bottom sheets actually fitted the bed. I had to get up throughout the night, every night just to put the sheet back on. It's clear that the sheet wasn't deep enough. Buy some decent bedding! The little garden is perfect for dogs. I didn't expect to have to clear up the last residents dog mess though! I was totally disappointed after a 6 hour drive. The kitchen at first appeared to be acceptable, but on attempting to get a mug to make a drink it was not as it seemed. We managed to find 4 mugs that hadn't been chipped. The mugs, glasses, cutlery all needed washing as it was so dirty. We decided not to cook whilst we were there. Purely due to the state of the oven. Trays that were dripping with oil, a grill pan that looked like it had never been washed. The hob was even dirty. This isn't how I live at home, so why would I expect this whilst on holiday? How hard is it to keep a property clean? I read the reviews before booking. Looked at the property photos and feel totally let down. I expected a 4 star property. The owners appear happy to take the money and can't be bothered with the property. This really could be a little gem. It needs a total deep clean, new equipment and some love and then would fit the 4 star standard."

"A lovely cottage in a peaceful, rural setting. The cottage is very well equipped for self-catering as well as being very spacious and airy. We felt it was very well situated for lovely Moors walks and we had a great time. The owner was extremely helpful when contacting her prior to our arrival, I would definitely recommend to others thank you"
    Heather
"Good size cottage with just enough parking for two cars. No DVD available.Garden good for dogs as enclosed but could do with some tidying"

"Hunters lodge was tucked away, very private and an absolute delight. Relaxed, peaceful, spacious, well equipped and extremely homely. With the added benefit of being dog friendly we could not have asked for more. Close to North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales so plenty of stunning walks."
    Elizabeth
"The cottage was very spacious and comfortable in a nice location close to Northallerton and Bedale ideal for discovering new areas of the Dale."

"Lovely holiday cottage. Spacious, well-equipped, warm, and nicely set out. Enclosed garden which is big enough to enjoy without being huge. It has paving and a lawn area. Well-stocked kitchen and bathroom. There was also a proper bath mat and pedestal surround - VERY rare in a holiday cottage but greatly appreciated as it made it feel like home, and I do get tired of fiddling around with towels to stand on after getting out of the bath/shower!Cute village with attractive church nearby which can be accessed by walking across the fields. While the road was not hugely busy as others have implied, cars pelted down it at quite a rate, so care is necessary when walking with children or dogs, but there is a grass verge almost all the way up to where you can then cross the field on the public footpath. One major downside we had was the issue of too many flies. I left a note with the owner suggesting fly curtains in the kitchen (we needed a door open often as the cottage was very warm, and the window was fastened shut) as this would probably solve the issue. We found some fly spray on day three but, as we had 3 little kids and it makes me cough, I didn't enjoy having to spray it around much. Also note that if you have small children that the windows (large sash-like things that open vertically inwards) would be terrible for fingers to get caught in so I would advise to keep them closed."

"A beautiful cottage with its own secure garden. We easily parked a BMW and an Aygo in the parking space. Very well equipped kitchen. Combi boiler for hot water and heating. I found a hair dryer on the last day. The owner and caretaker were easily available when we wanted to ask for advice about facilities. I walked my dog along the road to Scruton every day and found drivers considerate. The road can be quite busy. It was lovely to find a variety of beverages, sugar milk and biscuits in the kitchen on our arrival. I would recommend this cottage, there is plenty of room for a family and a dog. The tv in the lounge has been replaced by a large modern one. We had access to 4G in the cottage due to contractors on the A1M."

"Our fourth visit. Lovely homely cottage with secure garden at back if you have children or dogs, although narrow country lane can be busy at times. Very grateful to be able to bring our dogs. We enjoyed great walks with some stunning scenery. Particularly liked returning to a large welcoming country kitchen for evening meals. Close at hand if you like to eat out, we had a lovely meal, reasonably priced at Coore Arms. Most definately would visit again."
    Elkie
"Lovely cottage, warm, clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Enclosed garden great for dogs.Only downside is location on a busy country lane with no pavement, which makes walking into the village difficult."
    Pamela
"A spacious and well equipped cottage. However we did have an issue with the parking, with our large 4x4 vehicle it would not have been possible to park another vehicle. Also the fact that you have to back of a busy little road onto the parking area was of some concern"
    Nigel
"Excellent cottage. Well equipped, like a home from home. Spacious, well maintained and clean. Quiet as not much passing traffic, and has the benefit of enclosed garden and being dog triendly. You could easily think of it as a place to live, rather than a holiday cottage. One of the best we have stayed at."
    Alison
"The cottage was perfect for dogs; large kitchen and genuinely enclosed garden. No doggy smells, and easy to keep clean. Kitchen was missing a few basics (scissors, grater) and knives were dangerously blunt, but spacious feel and fab range cooker. Sofas uncomfortable. Be warned; poor phone reception AND no internet ... A bit of a shock but not necessarily a bad thing!!!"

"Lovely cottage, a home from home. Will definitely be back."
    Sarah
"We had a great week up at hunters lodge. The cottage was spacious and clean and the courtyard garden was perfect for our very young children. The kitchen is well equipped but it would be worth taking a knife sharpener with you as the knives are a bit blunt :-). The road outside the cottage is small but some cars come very fast down it so I didn't feel comfortable walking along it with the kids. This wasn't too much of a problem though as we drove out each day for our walks and activities. We'll definitely book again."
    Sarah
"Lovely cottage. Home from home. Plenty of space. Ideal for dogs. Well equipped. Clean & tidy. Private. Enclosed garden perfect for dogs. Highly recommend it."
    Graham
"Lovely cottage, very well equipped, comfy beds, great range master cooker. One minor groan, grass could have done with a cut. Would definitely return."
    Nikki
"Lovely location and fabulous for dogs as garden totally secure even for a small Jack Russell. Property was nice but needed looking after better as things like weeds running up to the front door, on the paved area in the garden and blocking the guttering looked awful. Cleanliness lacked also. The spiderweb were amazing and having to clean the dispenser drawer in the washer before using were not good plus you could write your name in the dust on the cooker hood. The main oven was filthy too but a quick going over on some bits made it habitable."
    Christine
"Very nice comfortable cottage. With young children it was quite far to travel to do things with them but overall very good."
    val
"Lovely cottage in a really peaceful location. Take every thing you need for first night eg milk etc as lock shop not was to find."
    Barbara
"Excellent, walled garden for dogs. Parking rather tight for two cars"
    marilyn
"We loved this cottage and would stay again.two small points to be made. The shower is not working as well as it should [ we have the same model shower at home]. cleanliness could be better [cobwebs in several rooms]And a pair of scissors would be useful."
    Jennifer
"On entering the Cottage the Kitchen gives a wonderful impression (farm house kitchen)Proerty was very good and for dog lovers their own back garden for them to run into a great asset.Location good for visiting Yorkshire Moors & Dales and Whitby particularly."
    Kevin
"Great cottage, plenty of room inside and out, in very good location, nice pubs and eating places close by, Would like to see wifi added, easier to plan visits via Internet."
    kathy
"excellent cottage, very user friendly with the dogs. Brilliant sized kitchen and well equiped. Would consider it to be a bit difficult to get 2 medium sized vehicles in the small parking area but suited us fine with one vehicle. A note re when is the bin day would be helpful. very much enjoyed our stay."
    Ronald
"A surprisingly spacious cottage, well equipped, quiet location, conveniently located to visit all of north Yorkshire. Good value."
    Jane
"Generally good cottage bigger than expected however the shower a big let down and difficult parking for 2 cars. Location excellent and pub in village excellent food. Ideal for walkers and families with dogs."
    Debbie
"Beautiful spacious cottage , well stocked and well equipped with essential requirements including basic food items , salt , pepper , tea and coffee. Towels , tea towels very helpful. However element of boredom for two teenagers !! Not much to do within surrounding area unless your willing to travel. Property would benefit from wifi and smart TV , property more suited for romantic break and outdoor paradise for dogs. Our doggies very much enjoyed their walkies . would return without kids ."
    John

Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed their break too, and the enclosed garden provided a safe environment in which they could play. June 2012."
