The picturesque fishing village of Runswick Bay is just one mile away and offers a sandy cove with opportunities for fossilling and rock pooling, always a big hit with the children! Take a bracing cliff-top walk on the Cleveland Way with superb coastal views, or explore the nearby seaside town of Whitby, steeped in history, with its narrow, cobbled streets, interesting shops and famous abbey. On the edge of the North York Moors, this bright and homely cottage makes an ideal base for walking, touring or simply visiting the pretty coastal towns and villages.

Hinderwell is a small but bustling rural village with shops and pubs close to the picturesque fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay, whilst being just 9 miles from the charming harbour town of Whitby. Hinderwell is ideally located for exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside, ranging from the dramatic cliffs and smugglers’ coves of the coastline, to the deep secluded dales of the North York Moors National Park. Walking, cycling, gliding, riding and fishing are all well catered for in the area, making this the perfect location for a relaxing break.
