Linden Cottage sleeping up to 4 guests

This delightful detached cottage is located on the outskirts of Whitby, perfect for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors.
Linden Cottage is tucked away in a quiet corner of the village of Newholm on the outskirts of Whitby. A perfect base to visit the North Yorkshire Moors and the east coast. The cottage has a large living room/dining room with plenty of space and light. It overlooks the fields and although next to the owner’s home it’s very private being detached with its own courtyard. Whitby is only a short drive and you have the option to use the park and ride on your way in. Whitby is a very popular coastal fishing town famous for its abbey which is on the hillside overlooking the town. With its quaint cobbled streets and old fishermen’s cottages its a great place to visit. The Cleveland Way follows the coastline making this area excellent for walking, within a few minutes you can be on the Cleveland Way trail. The steam trains travel from Whitby through the heather filled moors to the market town of Pickering stopping at Grosmont, Heartbeat country. There’s lots of traditional Yorkshire villages in the area with their local pubs, village greens and duck ponds. Further down the coast are the seaside resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Flamborough Head. The rspb bird sanctuary at Bempton has hundreds of puffins perched on the cliff side. Travelling north there’s Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, both very quirky little seaside resorts with steep streets leading down a maize of tiny alleyways to the seafront where children can enjoy excellent rock pooling. Beach 1½ mile. Shop 1½ mile, pub serving food 2 miles.

"I was disappointed with the property. Personally the website lead me to believe you could open the patio doors of the property which would be lead onto a field as I have 2 dogs they could just run out there unfortunately there was tiny little balcony and a drop to the bottom. Also the hedging had overgrown which blocked the view. The downstairs toilet seat would not stay up not hygienic when having to use the loo."

"Great cottage, everything you need, beautiful village and very close to Whitby. Would return in a heartbeat! Great info in cottage welcome book about park and ride, and restarant recommendations, Shower amazing!"

"Spacious cottage in a great location. The 2nd bedroom has bunk beds."
    Ann – 18 Aug 2019
"The cottage was not clean, crumbs and dog hairs on the carpet and cobwebs everywhere. The second bedroom was too small and the mattresses were uncomfortable. The crockery was dirty and the cutlery drawer was too. The oven was also dirty and l did not feel able to use it because of this. The microwave was rusty inside. The curtains in the lounge were dirty and dust came from them when we closed them. A filthy tea towel was left in the kitchen, luckily l took some of my own.On a positive note, the double bed was very comfortable."

"Great place if you want somewhere quiet and away from the crowds, but still within easy reach of the coast. Lovely cottage in a small hamlet not much to do there but a sandy beach is a five minute drive away and lots of attractions within a 1 hour drive."
    Adrienne – 12 Jul 2019
"A delightful comfortable house. Very quiet location within a 10 min drive to whitby"

"Beautiful cottege, immaculate. Nice views from the seating area. So quiet and peaceful too.Lovely walk down the country lane close by to sandsend beach avoiding traffic. French doors were a bit aged, difficulty opening/shutting/locking them, new TV wouldn't go a miss for rainy days either, digital was playing up a lot. This wasn't an issue for us but need to give people the heads up. Overall, this place is beautiful, and we'll definitely head back. Regards."

"This cottage is walking distance from Whitby Park and Ride (and Whitby for the adventurous) + Sandsend Beach via a beautiful wooded valley. It is perfect for coastal walking and cycling including Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay and Ravenscar and also the Moors via Danby National Park Centre. We walked, rode (horses), visited Whitby Abbey and Museum and loved coming back at the end of the day to a cosy extremely quiet cottage with views over the fields and sea. It was spotless and had a good supply of guidebooks, books, DVDs, jigsaws and little luxuries such as shampoo/ hair dryer/ washing powder etc. Local pubs/ cafes are not far away."
