There is also much to do with a number of museums, York races and the well-known Jorvik Viking Centre. For a dose of fresh country air, both the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors National Parks are easily reachable and offer some astounding scenery with a network of idyllic walking and cycling paths. A lovely cottage for exploring the area.

The city of York is a fine holiday base, it has the Minster, medieval walls, boat trips on the River Ouse, York Races, museums, and the Jorvik Viking Centre. Further afield you can find the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors or the coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. Yorkshire has stately homes such as Harewood House and Castle Howard.
