Your dog will love a cottage holiday in Scarborough
Overlooking the dramatic North Sea and surrounded by the bleak beauty of the vast Yorkshire Moors, Scarborough offers dog-owners holidays with the 'chihua-wow' factor! Dog-friendly cottages in Scarborough put you within easy reach of some of the area's best attractions, whether you're on foot, in the car, or want to travel by train. You'll also find plenty of pubs and restaurants where you and your four-legged friend will be made very welcome.
When it comes to walkies, there are some fantastic options. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is little more than half an hour's drive away, offering open moorland, clifftop walks and scent-packed forests; perfect for sniffing about in. However, it's worth checking the park's website, as there are restrictions in place at certain times of the year, particularly between March and July. During these months, certain birds nest on the ground and dog-owners are requested to keep their dogs on a short lead.
If your canine counterpart likes to be beside the seaside, many of the beaches in and around Scarborough are very accommodating. Although dogs aren't allowed on the north half of the beach, North Bay is an excellent walk at any time of year. For year-round walks, Cayton Bay is perfect, with plenty of sand for dedicated diggers! While your dog is busy burying his latest find, grab yourself an ice cream.

Scarborough Castle
Set high on the cliffs with outstanding views of the coast, Scarborough Castle is a spectacular place for dogs and their owners. While certain parts require dogs to be on leads, there's plenty of scope for off-the-leash roaming.
The Hole in the Wall
An unassuming little pub set in the centre of town, the Hole in the Wall is one of Scarborough's best-kept secrets. Pop in during the week for a quiet drink, while your furry chum is made a fuss of by the owners. If you fancy trying some superb local food, make sure to drop by on a Tuesday evening.
Whitby Abbey
Mentioned in Bram Stoker's novel about the most famous vampire of them all, Dracula, Whitby Abbey is ideal for history-buffs and fang-fans – and their dogs! With almost 200 steps leading up to the brooding and genuinely spooky abbey, you might find that your pup might suddenly change his mind about going for late-night walkies!
