Situated near the lovely seaside resort of Carrigart, County Donegal is Carraig Cottage a charming single-storey cottage ideal for families and friends alike. Resting amongst beautiful countryside and boasting magnificent views over the nearby glen and over to the distant mountains, this delightful dwelling is perfect for a relaxing retreat or venturing out to explore the local attractions. On arrival at the property, ample off-road parking greets you, before making your way into the cottage. Step into the sitting room and sink into the sofa to watch the TV with your loved ones with the fire ablaze after a long day of discovering your surroundings. From here, make you way into the kitchen to whip up delicious meals for the group, where you will find an electric oven and hob, a microwave, and an all-important dishwasher to help with the clean up. Make your way to the dining room, here you will find a traditional wooden dining table fitting with the theme throughout the property, tastefully paired with hardwood floors and furnishings, here you can gather at the dining table to discuss the day's events over a tasty homecooked meal. After dinner, escape to the conservatory with a good book as you gaze out over the pretty mature garden. When sleep calls, head off to the bedrooms to rest your eyes ahead of another busy day of discovering the local area. The cottage hosts three bedrooms, a king-size, a double and a twin with an en-suite shower room where you can prepare for the day ahead. Each bedroom is complete with plush beds you can look forward to snuggling into after a long day of exploring, as well as plenty of storage for your belongings in the characterful wooden furnishings. Choose to soak in the bath, where you can relax and unwind; the bathroom is also home to a walk-in shower, a basin and a WC as well as another handy cloakroom. Completing the interior of the property is a utility room home to a washing machine and a tumble dryer so you can freshen up your clothes throughout your stay. Spend your evenings outside in the garden; the gorgeous lawn provides a space perfect for a picnic lunch, or enjoy a spot of al fresco dining on the outdoor furniture while gazing out over the nearby glen. There are numerous restaurants within easy reach of the dwelling; why not treat yourself to a seaside meal at The Galley in Downings, or for fresh seafood straight from the shores, try Fisk Seafood Bar. If you are looking for some adventure throughout your stay, take a trip to Glen Valley Adventure Centre where you can try your hand at off-roading, zip-lining and clay pigeon shooting amongst other activities. For a fascinating insight into the history of the area, Glenveagh Castle is open for visitors and home to a 19th century castellated mansion encompassed by views of the Lough Veagh. Take a stroll around the Glenveagh Castle Gardens and admire the unspoilt scenery before stopping at the Tea Rooms for coffee and cake. There are many historical landmarks in the area for you to discover such as Ballyhoorisky Monument and notably, Doe Castle, a magnificent 15th century castle resting on a small peninsula. Branching further afield, spend a day exploring the Derry Walls, or closer to your home away from home, the Glenvagh National Park offers a wonderful day of walking and cycling. Carrigart is a traditional seaside resort located to the east of the area known as Sheephaven Bay. The village is home to a pleasant park, ideal for picnics in the warmer months. The village hosts two supermarkets, two bars, a café and a handful of other shops such as a butcher's and takeaways. The area is known for its spectacular countryside, which you can enjoy on horseback when visiting the horse riding centre, or perhaps take along your bikes, or simply stroll through the luscious scenery.
