Your dog will love a cottage holiday in Keswick
If you’re looking for a dog-friendly holiday destination that’s really got the bow-wow factor, then look no further than Keswick. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Lake District, Keswick has been voted as Britain’s ‘Most Dog-Friendly Town’ by the Kennel Club, for three years on the trot!
The historic market town sits between Derwentwater Lake and a ragged range of towering mountains. In the town you’ll find the cafés and restaurants very accommodating, particularly towards dog owners. We offer a superb range of dog-friendly cottages in Keswick, putting you and your four-legged friend within easy reach of several hound-happy attractions.
For a taste of the Great Outdoors and some serious walkies, hop aboard one of the boats that sail around Derwentwater Lake. With around seven stops on the cruise, curious canines can explore secluded beaches, scent-filled forests and trot along lakeside walkways. While dog owners will have to pay to enjoy the hour-long round-trip, their faithful friends can hop aboard for nothing! You’ll also find launches carrying visitors to the Catbells Mountain and High Brandlehow. This quick trip takes you to some of the Lake District’s most incredible scenery, before you take the return trip back to one of our dog-friendly cottages in Keswick.

The Dog and Gun
For a sumptuous evening meal or a quiet pint, the aptly-named Dog and Gun is one of the best pubs for those with dogs. In addition to offering an excellent menu for humans, there are treats and water bowls on offer for your canine counterpart.
Everyone deserves a little treat, once in a while – including your dog! Set in the centre of Keswick, Podgy Paws is a pet shop with a difference. Your dog can enjoy a refreshing drink at the ‘Dog Bar’ and there are plenty of dog-related items to browse and buy.
Mirehouse and Gardens
A stunning, historic house, the Mirehouse and Gardens offers fun for the whole family. The house itself is simply beautiful and offers live piano music at set times throughout the day. For youngsters, there are some superb play areas set deep within the woods, with the Skill Beck river trickling away nearby. While dogs must be kept on leads, the grounds are expansive and home to a variety of animals, such as cattle, squirrels and deer.
