From the villa, it's just a 5-minute drive to the pretty town of Mutxamel with its Renaissance-style church, gardens and children’s playground. Be sure to also sample the local Mutxamel beef tomato; it’s famous for its sweet, honey taste. While in Mutxamel, golf lovers can practise their swing at the 18-hole Bonalba golf course with its trees, lakes and stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. Afterwards, players can enjoy a spot of lunch on the terrace or take a dip in the tropical pool.
For a great day out at the beach, head to San Juan Playa; this long sandy beach is a good place for a swim and has plenty of water sports on offer, including windsurfing, jet skiing, and paragliding. There’s also a palm-lined promenade dotted with restaurants and snack bars. Other popular nearby beaches include La Almadraba and Cabo de la Huerta. Away from the shoreline, the dynamic town of Alicante is also worth a visit. Just 25 minutes from the villa, it is famous for its waterfront, old quarter, and sixteenth-century castle. Ride the elevator that rises through the mountain up to the castle and enjoy sweeping views over the city. Afterwards, grab a bite to eat down at the waterfront, then jump on a boat and make the 45-minute run to the tiny island of Tabarca. Here you can spend the afternoon exploring coves and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters. Back in Alicante, the city comes alive at night with partygoers crowding the popular nightclubs, discos and dance bars.
