This summary has been generated using feedback from guests who have stayed at this property

Tithe Barn is consistently praised for its comfort, stunning views, and excellent location in Melbourne. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, luxurious bathroom, and added bonuses like a snooker table. The property's charm is enhanced by its proximity to local attractions and the tranquillity offered by the surrounding wildlife. While there are mentions of low ceilings and minor maintenance issues, these do not detract from the overall positive experiences shared by visitors, who often express a desire to return.

Cleanliness

Unfortunately we’ve been unable assess this category comprehensively enough based on the reviews we’ve received from guests about this property.

Location

The location is highly praised for its fabulous views, proximity to Melbourne Hall, local markets, and independent shops. The peaceful sounds of church bells and wildlife add to the charm, making it a desirable spot for a relaxing break.

Comfort

Guests find the property very comfortable, with inviting furnishings, comfy beds, and a warm bathroom. The underfloor heating is appreciated, and the living areas are described as cosy, contributing to a relaxed and enjoyable stay.

Facilities

The facilities, including a well-equipped kitchen and games room, are well received. However, some minor maintenance issues like proud nails and the suggestion for a name plaque and garden access indicate room for improvement.

Thoughtfulness

The hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, with mentions of lovely welcome gifts such as cakes and toiletries. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is politely noted that such gifts are a delightful surprise and not guaranteed.

If you can tear yourself away from the estate, Staunton Harold Reservoir and Country Park offers a tranquil setting for a leisurely stroll and relax, whilst the National Trust remains of Calke Abbey, and the East Midlands Aeropark are ready to tour. Head into Derby for further attractions, where you can discover the Derby Museum & Art Gallery, tour The Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill, visit The Eagle Market, offering plenty of shopping opportunities, and dine out at a riverfront eatery near River Derwent. Travel south to explore the Ashby de la Zouch Castle, Ashby De La Zouch Museum, or head into the Heart of the National Forest with your walking boots in tow, ready for a day in nature. For a charming base in the heart of Derbyshire, book Tithe Barn.

Melbourne is a small Georgian market town in a delightful part of South Derbyshire on the edge of The National Forest. It is about 8 miles south of Derby and 2 miles from the River Trent. It contains a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. The village is also home to The church of St Michael with St Mary which is on the site of a much earlier Anglo Saxon building, and is regarded as one of the finest Norman Parish Churches in the country. It is 8 miles north of Swadlincote. There is much to enjoy in the village, including a lovely relaxing walk through rolling South Derbyshire countryside, starting from Melbourne’s medieval market place. Two of the county’s gems, Melbourne Hall and the Parish Church of St Michael’s, are passed in the early part of your stroll. Make the most of this attractive location all year round.
