Lovely garden . Could probably do with a general touch up . But very roomy. Plenty of space. Defo no smell as said on another review. Lots of places to visit. Very isolated but quiet as. We had to longline our puppy because he learned he could jump the wall

It is in the middle of 2 other houses and overlooked by many property at the rear. It was grubby with poor quality furniture and fittings it felt as if we were staying in a charity shop. We tried but failed to find any footpaths close by. The lack of a welcome letter and welcome pack was disappointing . A lack of useful information - We had to call Sykes to help us locate the car charger. Totally misrepresented and not 4 star - it felt low budget.

It is peaceful and the gardens are mature and ideal in many ways for children and dogs to play. The rooms are spacious and clean and there are the usual provisions on offer. This will make an ideal base for many people that stay here. However there are a few things that families and guests should consider when booking Sunnyside. Firstly the property is located between two adjoining properties which is not entirely clear when viewing the details. The smaller section of the building which is occupied has direct visibility into the garden. So if you consider it to be completely private like we did, unfortunately this isn’t the case. Perhaps Sykes could do a bit more to communicate this detail through its details on the website? From a personal perspective it was disappointing having paid a premium summer price to arrive with no welcome gift. A small hamper has always been well received at other Sykes cottages we have visited and naturally this instantly makes first and lasting impressions. Most of the bedroom and lounge furniture is dated and tired and the house would benefit greatly from updating with modern quality furnishings. In spite of some other small teething problems when we arrived it should be noted that the owner was very responsive and assisted promptly. Unfortunately there was one aspect that we could not overlook and in spite of a real willingness to dismiss some of the other issues, it was impossible to ignore the distinct smell of recreational drugs coming from the neighbouring property. This appeared to be emanating from the service ducts near to the boiler by the front entrance which in turn leads into the kitchen and communal areas. Naturally due to the proximity of the neighbour the smell was also often present in the garden. I want to finish by saying that Sunnyside could very easily be improved with some of the points highlighted. It will continue to offer an ideal holiday house in its present state but if you are staying and paying the full summer premium you may be disappointed by some of the aspects above.
