About this property

Osprey Cottage is a tremendous pet-friendly property in the aesthetically pleasing village of Grasmere in Cumbria. This holiday home has ground-floor living, woodburning stove, and sublime countryside views to look out onto - with off-road parking for two cars, Osprey Cottage is a lovely destination for a family looking for a getaway to remember for a long time. Walk in past the welcoming hallway and through to a sitting room you will fall for immediately. With three sofas and an armchair all shouting your name, take your pick when having a sit down. Before you do, light the woodburning stove for some crackling warmth as you lie down and switch on the Smart TV. Lose yourself in whatever show you choose, as the holiday mood lets the mind decompress. When you’re in the mood for a bite to eat, get everyone around the dining table ready for something delicious. Use the electric oven and induction hob to whip up a meal in no time. If the weather is kind, be sure to go out into the garden and take in the sweet sunshine as you sip a drink. Let time go by without a care in the world until the night sky tells you it is time for bed. With en-suites in the ground-floor and first-floor king-size bedrooms, choose between a shower or a bath before you have some rest ahead of a day of exploring Cumbria. A shop is a short distance away for any essentials, as well as a pub for a cheeky beverage or meal. Go out and about in Grasmere with all the family, with plenty to do at Lake Grasmere. Go for a tranquil walk along the lake, taking in the picturesque views. Find a birdwatching spot or even have a go at some kayaking in the serene lake. Windermere isn’t far away for another wonderful day out. Take in Lake Windermere, the largest lake that England has to offer, which gives the family loads of activities to take part in. Jump on a lake cruise, have a go at some fishing, or look underneath the water with some insane scuba diving. If you’d rather stay dry, the Lake District Falconry has some unreal hawk walks, or see the stunning greenery that the Holehird Gardens have. Slightly further afield is the splendid town of Keswick. A scenic hike awaits on the Catbells Lakeland Walk path, or get the kids excited by taking them to The Lake District Wildlife Park. For some interactive activities, The Puzzling Place will have the little ones entertained with some brain teasers. Treat yourself and the family to a mesmerising stay at Osprey Cottage.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
