Three is also a charming reading area with two chairs and a selection of books. The dining table will seat eight guests to enjoy a hearty meal, and outside the decking offers a space to dine alfresco, complemented by the sunshine and a glass of your favourite beverage. On the ground floor there is also a handy cloakroom. There are four simply beautiful bedrooms housed within this property, beginning on the first floor, with two well-presented king-size bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and a bunk, serviced by a tasteful bathroom. On the second floor, an amazing super-king-size room filled with character and charm sports sky lights, contemporary décor and a handy en-suite. The village of Ambleside is simply a fantastic base for your Cumbrian adventure, offering a whole host of local shops, pubs, eateries and independent stores to browse at your leisure. Options include The Vault, Golden Rule and Force Café and Terrace, whilst fantastic walks are available from your doorstep, leading to Stock Ghyll Force, beside the River Rothay, following the dramatic scenery of Wansfell Pike, Todd Cragg and Skelwith Force. For a taste of history, visit Ambleside Roman Fort, or walk through Stagshaw Gardens. Windermere is a fantastic lake with many watersports and wild swimming facilities at your service, as well as cruises along the lake and beautiful towns such as Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere, where guests can find many shops, cafes and pubs. Visit many of the other close by lakes, including Coniston Water, or enjoy hiking and mountain biking the trails through The Old Man of Coniston, Scafell Pike, Red Screes and birdwatching at The RSPB at Haweswater. There is something for everyone with a stay at the incredible Rydal Rock.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
