This delightful, mid-terrace cottage rests in the centre of Wolsingham, in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Enjoying an enclosed garden with a summer house, Acacia House welcomes families and three pets looking for a retreat in this picturesque region. After a day of exploring the local shops, retire to the lounge where you can keep warm beside the woodburning stove and enjoy catching up on your favourite shows on the Smart TV. Step through to the kitchen, where the chef of the group can whip up a tasty feast, utilising an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and even a dishwasher, so cleaning up will be a breeze! Serve up supper in the dining room, toasting to a quintessentially English retreat. During the warmer months, step out to the enclosed garden and enjoy a drink from the furniture whilst your canine companion stretches their legs. There’s also a fantastic summer house which the little ones are sure to find entertainment from. Whisk away upstairs and choose between two charming bedrooms, including a double and a twin, serviced by a shower room. Take off and explore the market town of Wolsingham, where you can enjoy a range of fantastic pubs, including the Black Lion and Black Bull, both serving a tasty menu and choice of ales, whilst there are also takeaways for a quicker option and a convenience store for the essentials. Nestled on the fringes of the North Pennines AONB, Acacia House is a great base to embrace walking and cycling right from the doorstep. For a change of scenery, head to the city of Durham and explore its Norman Cathedral and the picturesque botanic gardens. However you choose to spend your time, return each evening to Acacia House.
In the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the charming town of Wolsingham is a traditional market town. The town, which is tucked away in the picturesque Weardale Valley, is home to a variety of renowned bars, cafes, and eateries, as well as convenience stores and takeout. Additionally, the town has a lawn bowls club, an indoor pool and gym, a number of picnic spaces, and a recreation centre with an outdoor gym and playing fields. There are several facilities in the town, including a library, pharmacy, gift and antique shops, supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, and greengrocers. All significant supermarkets deliver here, as well. The Wolsingham Show, the oldest agricultural show in the nation, takes place the first weekend in September. Wolsingham is a well-liked starting point for walking and cycling because of its ideal location to enjoy the best of the north-east. Numerous tourist attractions can be found nearby, such as the High Force waterfall, the Tunstall Reservoir, the Weardale Heritage Railway, and the Hamsterley Forest, which are great for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. For history buffs, there is the Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site, the Killhope Lead Mining Museum, the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, and Auckland Castle, which tells the epic 2000-year story of Kynren. Hadrian's Wall, the Beamish Open Air Museum, and the Angel of the North, the most well-known work of public art in the UK, are a few further noteworthy sites. Explore further afield to the coast to see the prehistoric cliffs and caves at Marsden South Shields, as well as the Newcastle Gateshead quayside with its many bars and restaurants, the Sage music centre, the Millennium bridge across the Tyne, and the Baltic centre of contemporary art, which is housed in a renovated flour mill.
