About this property

Garland House is a detached house based in Wearhead, County Durham. The property is set over four floors with entrance into the spacious living room with an open fire, a sofa and two armchairs facing the TV, as well as a piano. It also has a tall bookcase with a selection of books and DVDs. There is a small cloakroom and an adjoining dining room with seating for six people. The first floor is home to a snug room, which is ideal for reading and listening to music, in a secluded spot of the house. Across the hall is a typical country style kitchen, which is well-stocked with a small kitchen table for four people. With extensive countryside views from the kitchen, there is an external door into a porch and then a small veranda with seating and steps to ground level side passage leading to the front of the house. On the second floor you will find the three bedrooms: one double, one twin with an en-suite shower room, and one child bunk, perfect for large families. The second floor bathroom offers a choice of a bath and shower, with attractive tiling and black wallpaper with white patterns, giving this room a quirky feel. To the rear is a slim garden with pathway leading to seating within a covered pergola, big enough for enjoying with a glass of wine. There is parking for one which is gated directly at the front of the house. This property has everything you could ever need during your stay, such as a variety of entertainment, including books, piano, TV and DVDs. While you stay with us, why not visit the World Heritage Durham Cathedral and the Norman Castle which has been wholly occupied since 1840. It is open to the general public, but only through guided tours. Crook Hall and Gardens is a stone manor house originally built in the 13th century, with picturesque English-style gardens. Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District are within one hour travel. Durham is home to an indoor market which dates back to Saxon and Norman times. Today the Indoor Market is home to over 50 traders selling a wide variety of food, goods and services. Garland House is located in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is the ideal property for family celebrations.

Wearhead is a village in Durham, England. It is named after the nearby source of the River Wear which runs eastwards for approx 40 miles to Sunderland. In addition, the village has a selection of pubs, restaurants, an art gallery, outdoor swimming pool and pleasant riverside walks. Durham has a castle, which was originally built in the 11th century as a projection of the Norman power in Northern England. It is an excellent example of the early motte and bailey castles favoured by the Normans.
