Guests say

Middlemoor Cottage is praised for its cleanliness, well-equipped nature, and peaceful location, ideal for exploring nearby attractions. The enclosed garden is a hit with pet owners. Some guests noted the beds and living room furniture could be more comfortable, and there were minor maintenance issues. The welcome pack and information provided were appreciated, although personal touches like gifts are not consistent.

Guests consistently commend the cottage for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting this aspect positively. There are no negative comments about cleanliness, indicating high standards are maintained.

The location is frequently described as peaceful and lovely, well-situated for visiting local attractions. However, some guests mentioned that amenities are not within walking distance, which slightly impacts the convenience factor.

While the cottage is generally seen as comfortable, there are several remarks about the beds and some living room furniture not being as comfortable as desired, which suggests room for improvement in this area.

Facilities are generally well-received, with mentions of a well-appointed kitchen and entertainment options like books and games. However, points are deducted for reported maintenance issues such as a dripping tap, slow-draining sink, and Wi-Fi reliability.

While some guests appreciated the welcome pack and information provided, there is insufficient detail about consistent personal touches or gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, when present, enhance the guest experience but are not guaranteed.

About this property

Alnwick 5.1 miles. Resting in peaceful surroundings, Middlemoor Cottage is close to Alnwick in Northumberland, and offers elegantly presented accommodation which is the ideal destination for a family holiday. With delightful, extensive front gardens giving the cottage a beautifully rustic feel, the property is the perfect rural retreat. On entering the cottage, the sitting room welcomes guests in to kick off their shoes, take a seat in front of the attractive woodburning stove and look forward to spending time just chilling out. When hunger strikes, the charming fully fitted kitchen is waiting for the designated chef to come in and whip up a culinary storm, so that when it’s time to eat, the country-style dining table is ready to host long, enjoyable meals. If the sun is shining, then time spent in the gardens is time well spent with plenty of room for the children and any pets to run around in and pleasant patio areas with furniture just waiting for the grown-ups to sit down, relax and take in the gorgeous rural views. At bedtime, the two bedrooms, a double and a twin, are both equally stylish and offer a calming sanctuary to lay your weary heads after a tiring day of exploring. After a morning coffee on the patio and a quick shower, you’ll be raring to go and ready to explore again. As well as loads of scenic country walks on the doorstep, the picturesque town of Alnwick is a short distance away which is dominated by its stunning castle and gardens, boasting Europe’s largest cascading water feature. The castle’s other claim to fame is that it was the setting for Hogwarts School as featured in the Harry Potter films. The town also has a good selection of shops and amenities as well as miles of beaches to explore. Nearby coastal towns worth visiting include Alnmouth, Seahouses, Warkworth and Beadnell with trips to Farne Islands popular where you can look out for unusual birds and even seals. Other attractions include Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland Country Zoo and Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery. A memorable holiday in beautiful surroundings awaits with a stay at Middlemoor Cottage.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Beds a bit uncomfortable but the welcome pack and cleanliness was out standing. Thank you for the Grandkids sweets.

The mattresses need replacing as the beds were uncomfortable. On on wof the single beds I could feel the spring in the mattress. Gorgeous cottage in perfect location. If the beds were sorted it would be definitely somewhere we would return to.

The enclosed gardens were so important to us,to be able to let our dogs run free was a god send,as they both are escape artists. Such a relaxing break. Will definitely return and recommend to friends and family. Thank you.
