Mallow Lodge in Bamburgh is repeatedly praised for its comfort, stylishness, and beautiful setting. Guests find it well-equipped and ideally situated for exploring the Northumberland coastline and Cheviot Hills. The lodge offers a peaceful and relaxing environment, though some guests noted a recent dip in the standard of the welcome hamper.
Unfortunately we’ve been unable assess this category comprehensively enough based on the reviews we’ve received from guests about this property.
The lodge is consistently lauded for its excellent location, with easy access to the Northumberland coastline, peaceful surroundings, and proximity to Bamburgh and Budle Bay.
Guests describe the lodge as very comfortable and relaxing, with multiple stays indicating a high level of satisfaction with the comfort provided.
The lodge is well-equipped according to guests, but some minor issues with a welcome hamper and missing toiletries suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
While guests appreciate the welcome package, there are comments about it not meeting expectations recently. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are subject to change and not guaranteed.
Mallow Lodge is a contemporary eco-lodge situated in a quarry, with stunning views of the sheer stone walls. With a secluded, south-facing decking area outside and a cosy, open-plan living space indoors, it’s the perfect place to enjoy the dramatic scenery and beaches of Northumberland.
Mallow Lodge is one of a small group of holiday eco-lodges situated within the dramatic setting of Brada Quarry. Northumberland is known for its stunning scenery, and the quarry is no exception, with superb views from the decking and living room, and the magic of nature right on your doorstep.
The exterior decking is south-facing, the perfect spot to catch some sun during a lazy afternoon or evening. Inside the property you’ll find a large, open-plan living area, with panoramic windows from the kitchen looking out onto the quarry. The living space is the perfect place to relax with comfy seating and a wood burning stove as a central feature.
Mallow Lodge puts you in easy reach of some of Northumberland’s most famous and iconic destinations, including Bamburgh with its famous Castle; Holy Island; the coastlines and walking trails. Budle Bay is in walking distance from the lodge, with its beautiful beaches, cycle routes and bird sanctuary. Spectacular countryside and vast open skies are never far away, and a holiday at this eco-lodge will bring you up close to the beauty and majesty of the North East’s unique rural landscapes.
For larger groups, Mallow Lodge is also available to book for six guests, with use of a third bedroom, subject to availability (see separate listing).
Additional Information:
Two well behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge).
Children and infants welcome. Travel cot and highchair available on request.
Walking distance to beach.
The quarry has a steep rock face, but there is a safe, enclosed area for viewing and picnics.
There is no lighting (other than at the lodge door) outside the properties and in the surrounding car park area. This is to avoid light pollution as the area is a dark sky area and perfect for star gazing.
There is no access to the adjacent nature reserve as it is protected, however the variety of butterflies, other birds and flowers are numerous and easily spotted. Fulmars can be spotted next to the Quarry face.
There is no provision for the charging of electric vehicles at Mallow Lodge. It is strictly forbidden to charge your vehicle from the domestic electric supply (for example by putting a plug into a plug socket inside the property) as it is highly dangerous and could invalidate the owners property insurance and your own motor insurance. Please charge your vehicle at one of the local charging points near the property.
