Dunlin Cottage is a charming property praised for its peaceful location, dog-friendly enclosed garden, and cosy atmosphere with a log burner. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds, making it a great base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coast and nearby Bamburgh.
While many guests found the cottage clean and tidy, there were some concerns about pet hair, a musty smell, and general maintenance issues. However, the majority of reviews suggest a satisfactory level of cleanliness.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to local beaches and attractions. It is considered an excellent spot for a peaceful retreat and for dog owners looking for great walking areas.
Guests frequently mention the comfortable beds and the cosy feel of the cottage, especially with the log burner. Some minor issues were noted with heating efficiency, but overall, the cottage is regarded as a comfortable stay.
The property is well-equipped, with a particular emphasis on the kitchen and the provision of logs for the burner. However, there are reports of maintenance issues such as a broken extractor fan, cracked tiles, and ineffective log burner, which affect the score.

Bamburgh 2.5 miles. A pretty stone-built cottage with a backdrop of mature trees, Dunlin Cottage offers a wonderful base settled into the rural location of Budle Bay, near Bamburgh, Northumberland, ideal for a family and within easy reach of local amenities and attractions. Park off-road and settle down in a homely sitting room, where a woodburning stove warms your feet from within a traditional bare brick fireplace, and you can take one of the selection of books and relax in a stylish sofa. When mealtimes call, this property has a lovely kitchen/diner with a homely cottage feel, fitted with loads of amenities and with plenty of space for cooking together as a family, and here you will also find a dining table and glass double doors leading outside into a pretty patio surrounded by mature trees, a fantastic spot for alfresco dining. The garden also reaches the bank of Waren burn. The bathroom can be found on the ground floor, and there are two bedrooms within this property, including a tasteful double with large windows and a twin with loads of storage. Budle Bay is a lovely location just outside of the historic town of Bamburgh, and here you can enjoy countryside walks and spend a day at the beach, enjoying stunning coastal views and maybe even trying out watersports. For a hot meal or to stock upon essentials, head over to Bamburgh, and visit the town centre where there is a selection of eateries and make the most of a visit to the stunning Bamburgh Castle. If you travel a little further from the property then you will find the amazing Holy Island with all of its fantastic historic sites, museums and shops. Explore the wonders of the Northumberland coast with a stay at Dunlin Cottage.
The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
