The Indigo House is a charming 18th century townhouse quietly located on a small European-style square in the heart of Berwick's historic quarter. Located on the Lowry Trail and next to the Town Walls walk, The Indigo House is a perfect base for a family or a group of friends seeking a centrally located base for adventures within the town and along Northumberland’s coast. Discover the property’s entrance via a covered alleyway, leading up to the front door and into a narrow hallway with lots of hanging space for coats, bags and shoes to greet you, as well as a small cloakroom. Make your way into the living/dining room where your eyes will be drawn to the red brick feature fireplace and soft seating surrounding it, with a TV to enjoy and a dining area perfect for accommodating all eight guests or a smaller group with the table able to be made smaller. Across the landing is the well-stocked kitchen boasting a lovely bistro table and chairs so you can keep the chef company as a home-cooked meal is prepared with the ample appliances here. From the kitchen, make your way into the courtyard to find the large luxury hot tub under a canopy, so you can enjoy the relaxing waters in any weather, while outdoor dining can be enjoyed at the outdoor dining area. A further living area can be found in the basement, set up with a large TV and an Xbox as a haven for avid gamers or film aficionados, with a daybed and futon to relax on and some extra appliances in here including a large fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs on the first floor another tranquil spot can be found in the snug, with books, games and puzzles to entertain younger children and a TV, as well as a long narrow desk for drawing or catching up with work, and a sofa bed to complete the room. When the evening draws in, head to the first floor to discover two delightful king-size bedroom, both served by a modern shower room, whilst up on the second-floor find two lovely twin bedrooms, with a small bathroom to freshen up in, home to a small bath perfect for kids. Each bedroom boasts pocket sprung mattresses, mattress toppers and 100% cotton bedding, with original fireplaces adding character and charm, and oriental rugs to complete the elegant interior. With its central location, The Indigo House is perfect for enjoying the many delights of Berwick-upon-Tweed, with the Town Walls access point just a stone's throw from the property, so you can begin your exploring with a tour of these historic walls. Visit the 13th century remains of Berwick-upon-Tweed Castle and Ramparts before heading into the 18th century barracks housing a museum which displays the military history of the area. Berwick Museum and Art Gallery can add further to the cultural intake of your stay, while a trip to Castle Vale Park affords lovely views of the many arched Royal Border Bridge and is near to the Elizabethan castle ruins of Berwick Castle. Venture over to Berwick's beach or enjoy an afternoon on one of the excellent golf courses just outside the centre of the town offering stunning coastal scenery. Boat trips along the River Tweed and out to the North Sea can be easily enjoyed, presenting a great way to soak up the views without moving a muscle, while those seeking more active adventures can head out on bike rides and walks along the coast, or venture further inland to explore Northumberland and the Scottish Borders' countryside, with The Indigo House benefitting from side gate access so you can bring prams and bikes straight into the courtyard. Enjoy a wonderful break to Berwick at The Indigo House.
