Head into the village of Powburn where you will find some small shops including a garage, antiques shop, cafe, and small grocery store that even sells some delicious locally sourced fresh crab! Although the village is very small there is some of the best countryside to explore. There are stunning walks, cycle routes, and not to mention breath taking views to be enjoyed. A 10-mile drive brings you to the historic market town of Alnwick where you can start your adventure at the incredible and famous Alnwick Castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in the UK and used as Hogwarts when filming scenes for the Harry Potter films with related events organised throughout the year as well as guided tours. The Alnwick Garden is also an exciting visit with its spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including the Grand Cascade waterfall, poison garden and largest tree house in Europe where guests can dine in the restaurant.

An 8-mile drive further North brings you to Wooler Known locally as ‘the gateway to The Cheviots’ Wooler is a delightful, historic market town on the banks of the River Till, one of the tributaries of the Tweed, nestling in the foothills of the Cheviots which form part of the Pennine Way. Powburn is centrally located to access some of Northumberland’s best beauty spots and beaches.
