Marine Cottage is a short walk from the beach and promenade, in the coastal village of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, a friendly village once renowned for its fishing, and there are still a few cobles go out every morning. The village has a friendly bakery, butchers, fruit shop, florist, gift shops, large supermarket and a few lovely cafés and pubs. There is also a fabulous Indian restaurant and Italians for eating out. Nearby Morpeth has a good array of shops and pubs also great for an evening out, take a taxi or a bus from the main street. The promenade in Newbiggin stretches almost a mile right to the very end where you will find a café with a small museum dedicated to the lifeboat, the beach is usually quiet, and the will children love the rockpools. With a lovely wood burner for those cooler evenings Marine Cottage is a comfortable cosy base from which to explore the fabulous areas around. Some great places are not far away, from Tynemouth Long sands to Whitley Bay or Druridge Bay to Craster there are also beautiful walks and it’s very popular with cyclists too. Buses are from the Front Street to Newcastle or Morpeth where you can spend a great day trip discovering Newcastle’s fine historic buildings, fabulous bars and restaurants and even take a look down at the Quayside at the iconic Tyne Bridge.
