Mundles Cottage is consistently praised for its comfort, well-equipped facilities, and excellent location for exploring Northumberland. Guests appreciate the quiet village setting, the cosy atmosphere with a log burner, and the secure courtyard garden, especially those with pets. The cottage's charm and character are frequently mentioned, making it a beloved choice for a peaceful and enjoyable stay.
Guests are generally very pleased with the cleanliness of the cottage, often describing it as spotless. One review mentioned it was not up to their standard, suggesting a deep clean might be needed, but this seems to be an isolated opinion.
The location is highly regarded for its quiet, peaceful setting and proximity to local attractions, including the Northumbrian National Park and beautiful beaches. The absence of shops and a pub in the village is noted, but it does not significantly detract from the overall positive feedback.
The cottage receives high marks for comfort, with guests finding it cosy, well-furnished, and tastefully decorated. The presence of a log burner and comfortable beds contributes to the overall sense of comfort.
Facilities are frequently described as well-equipped and maintained, with a fully equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches for pet owners. There is a single mention of the bathroom potentially needing an upgrade, but this does not seem to be a common concern.
The cottage is appreciated for thoughtful gestures such as flowers, chocolates, and a welcoming bottle. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, although delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.
Cosy end-terraced cottage with rear private, sheltered, courtyard a safe haven for children or pets. This property is located in the heart of Whittingham close to the Cheviot Hills.
Oozing with character, charming Mundles is a cosy 18th C holiday cottage. From the moment you open the door you’ll fall in love with the place! Picture this… exposed beams, wood burning stove, inglenook fireplace and beamed ceilings, add to the mix, large comfortable sofas and beds, traditional kitchen with belfast sink and a lovely mediterranean style courtyard with terracotta pots planted with olive and bay trees - a lovely safe play spot for children and a great place to relax with a coffee and a book.
The cottage is over 2 floors; there’s a TV with Freeview, DVD and CD radio with bluetooth and dining table and chairs and kitchen with a dishwasher. Upstairs the 2 bedrooms are perfect for a couple with a child, pretty and cottagey with lovely furnishings and iron frame beds. (Some restricted headroom in places).
The cottage is in the village of Whittingham which sits on the banks of the River Aln at the foot of the Cheviot Hills. An area of gentle rolling hills, often referred to as the Vale of Whittingham and the gateway to the Cheviots. The perfect location for exploring the Northumberland National Park or taking a trip across to the Heritage coastline. Walkers and cyclists will love the diverse selection of paths and trails starting from the front door.
