Set on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, it’s a lovely base for walkers, cyclists and those simply looking to unwind in scenic surroundings. A 20-mile drive takes you to the unspoilt beaches and historic castles of Chillingham, Bamburgh and Alnwick, while the stunning Scottish Borders lie even closer – just 15 miles away, with plenty of opportunities for scenic walks and breathtaking views. Ford and Etal, with its castle, steam railway and nature reserve, is just 13 miles from the doorstep.
After a day of exploring, return to the cottage for some well-earned relaxation. At the entrance to the property, there is a small porch/boot room – perfect for storing coats and muddy boots. The compact kitchen/diner seats four and is equipped with everything you need to prepare a cosy meal, including a gas oven and hob, fridge and freezer, microwave and washing machine. In the lounge, you can enjoy views over the rear garden and across to the Cheviot Hills. Curl up in front of the gas fire and make the most of the TV for a quiet evening in. Wi-Fi and a Nest system are also provided for your comfort and convenience. Upstairs, the main bedroom features a double bed, rural views and a small TV – ideal for a lazy morning lie-in – while the twin bedroom offers a more child-friendly space with its own period feature fireplace. The bathroom includes an electric shower over the bath and WC.
Outside, to the rear, there is a generous garden with a patio area and seating for four, along with a barbecue – perfect for an alfresco meal or simply soaking up the fresh country air. Dedicated parking for up to two cars is available at the rear of the property. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
