Dalton-in-Furness, an old town, can be found in a valley on the section of the Furness Peninsula that juts out into Morecambe Bay. Dalton, the former county seat of Furness, now boasts a wide variety of excellent dining and drinking establishments. A Victorian drinking fountain, the market cross, and stone slabs used to cure fish in the 19th century are just a few of the noteworthy buildings that surround the town's central square. Dalton Castle, a pele tower built some time in the 14th century, was once a haven of refuge for the monks of adjacent Furness Abbey, a remarkable sandstone ruin set in a calm forested valley. South Lakes Wild Animal Park, the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world (near Ulverston), and the Haventhwaite Steam Railway (which travels to Lakeside, where you can catch a steam train to Bowness or Ambleside) are all within easy driving distance of the town. The beautiful Cartmel, Holker Hall, and Grizedale Forest are just a short drive to the north of Dalton-in-Furness, in the Duddon Valley. Located at the border of Lake District National Park, this area is perfect for hikers, bicyclists, and beachgoers.

Upon arrival however even our lofty expectations were exceeded; the place is spectacular. Valley View is a massive property, and the facilities are fantastic. The hot tub is massive and modern and fit for a large party. The beds are all large, clean and brand new, the dining facilities were just brilliant, and we had a fantastic meals across the large dining area. The kitchen itself was also tremendous. It was myself who arranged our trip, but every person from our large party personally congratulated me on my choice of housing for our trip. Everyone was blown away with the place. We will definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you to all the staff who had the place looking pristine upon our arrival, we had a very memorable weekend

overall our experience was satisfactory and the house games room and large kitchen were the highlights. We found the various hot water systems a little confusing to be honest and there were issues with running hot water in all rooms consistently so we had to share bathrooms to allow people to shower which was not ideal The heating systems didn't seem to work consistently either with the right side of the house feeling cold (games room side) even though the hive thermostat indicated the heating was working We used all the fire logs we bought and ended up purchasing more from Booths to keep warm We also had issues with the lighting (games room area) and electric showers with a call out required for some mains breaker switches to be reset by the emergency weekend support team

I spent time there for my 70th birthday with 18 members of my family. It was so spacious we could all get together in one very large and comfy lounge and their were several other lounges and a games room for when we wanted to sit in smaller groups. My 3 year old grandson had the time of his life roaming around and playing in all of the rooms. The dining facilities were fantastic and we could all dine together very comfortably. The gardens were beautiful and the younger members of the family had a great time using the immaculately clean hot tub even though it was October and the weather was cold. Everyone who worked at the house or for Sykes were so welcoming and friendly to deal with. We just loved the house and were sad to leave it.
