About this property

Ideally placed in the delightful market town of Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria is this traditional stone abode Leisure Cottage. Halfway between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, with a lovely, enclosed garden and within easy reach of local amenities, this cottage is ideal for two couples, friends, or a small family to discover the delights of the area. On arrival, park your car off-road and make your way into your inviting base, where you can find a well-equipped kitchen/diner, complete with cooking facilities for self-catering needs and a dining table for four guests. From here, enjoy your afternoon cup of tea or evening glass of wine out in the garden, home to quality furniture for alfresco dining should you wish. Back inside, unwind in the sitting room, where the gas fire warms the space in the cooler months, with a TV for your film night. Completing the ground floor is a handy cloakroom, while upstairs you can find a full family bathroom with both a bath and walk-in shower, perfect for preparing for a day of walking. When you're ready to rest your head, choose from a double bedroom, or a double with a sofa bed, ideal for a child sharing with their grown-ups. Stock up on the essentials in the local town; just paces away you will reach a selection of shops and a wealth of pubs, restaurants, cafés should you not feel like cooking one night. Ample walking opportunities can be explored from the doorstep, with the River Eden nearby, creating a peaceful landscape for your afternoon ramble. Heading in one direction, happen upon the charming villages and towns of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, such as Sedbergh, Dent and Hawes, home of the Wensleydale cheese factory. Heading in the opposite direction, the Lake District National Park invites you to explore the stunning terrains of the hills and fabulous opportunities for water sports. A homely cottage in a picture-perfect area, choose Leisure Cottage.

Kirkby Lonsdale is a charming market town in the middle of the Lune Valley, halfway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 and has a Market Charter from the 13th century. Today, Thursday is market day, providing an excellent opportunity for visitors to explore the town's unique individual stores as well as the many 17th and 18th century structures that still survive. In 2016, the town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award.

Very peaceful but within wreach of riverside walks and walking distance to the centre of Kirkby Stephen. Beds were very comfortable and the cottage was lovely and warm. The television had all all the channels you would want and was a good size for the room. WiFi signal was very good. We visited The Taggy Man for lunch which was very good with nice, attentive staff. We also attended the quiz night on Tuesday at 7 pm and it was excellent with sausage butties at half time - all for just £1.50 each (dog friendly - very). Finally we have to mention The White Hare cafe. Fabulous breakfast, great friendly staff and very good prices We enjoyed our stay here so much we have booked to come back in March 2024. Thanks again for this experience.

Underfloor heating appreciated. Great shower! Couldn't be better placed for C2C walkers.
