Shap 5.2 miles. An attractive, single-storey barn conversion settled in the midst of the Cumbrian countryside, The Byre is ideal for two couples seeking a relaxing break within easy reach of the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines. This northern touring base offers stylish ground-floor accommodation, with open-plan elements and quality furnishings, along with being pet-friendly and just next door to the owner's own home. After you have parked in your allocated spot in the drive, grab your things and head inside this lovely dwelling, taking a right turn down the hall to discover the first bedroom. Set your bags down and admire the excellent décor surrounding the king-size bed, with large storage space and a Smart TV mounted on the wall. An interconnecting door leads into the second bedroom, able to be locked if preferred, where another king-size bed and TV can be found. Peek into the bathroom and be excited for a relaxing soak on seeing the large roll-top bath, as well as a sleek walk-in shower with contemporary subway tiling. Pass the handy utility housing the washing machine before reaching the fabulous open-plan living space; to the right is the sleek, grey fitted kitchen, complete with an integrated electric oven, integrated microwave, and a handful of more quality appliances, including a slimline dishwasher. Spend evenings tucking into delicious food around the dining table, before retiring to the sofa or armchair to watch a film on the large TV while the multi-fuel stove crackles in the background. Fling open the patio doors in summer to let in the fresh country breeze, with the outdoor furniture offering the perfect spot for alfresco dining in the sun, and a fire pit to gather around, as the evening turns cooler. The village of Newby is next to Morland where you can find the closest pub, The Crown Inn, while the nearest shops lie in the village of Shap just over five miles away. Located in the Eden Valley, Newby is a wonderful base for walkers, being just a scenic drive from the likes of Helvellyn in the Lake District, High Cup Nick in the North Pennines AONB and Langedale Fell in the northern Yorkshire Dales. Explore the magnificent Lowther Castle & Gardens for the day, home to the Earls of Lonsdale in medieval times; it now boasts gardens, a café and a shop. Visit arguably England's finest lake, Ullswater, for a day of scenic strolls around the waterside, making sure to stop at the stunning Aira Force waterfall. Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens is another excellent, historic outing, along with the Penrith and Eden Museum in Penrith, the town offering a great selection of eateries, shops and attractions. A good deal of outdoor activity organisers lie in the surrounding area offering caving excursions, guided walks, watersports on the nearby lakes and plenty more, so there's something to suit all tastes. Discover the delights of Newby and the Cumbria countryside with your nearest and dearest from The Byre.
