The kitchen includes an electric oven and a gas hob to prepare home-cooked meals as well as a dishwasher for a fuss-free washing up. Sprawl on the sofa and let the Smart TV do the entertaining as you sip a cup of tea; and when stomachs start to rumble, settle down at the dining table to tuck-in, whether that be an elaborate meal or quickly heating up your pie or sausages from Higginsons, one of the better known butchers in the area, located just a stone’s throw away. After an action-packed day exploring Cumbria, the garage offers a washing machine and tumble dryer to freshen your clothes and you can wash up in the contemporary bathroom with either a bubble-bath or quick shower. Savour the views from the front garden of the main house with a cold beverage in hand to watch the sunset as your furry friend stretches their legs before you; alternatively, you can use the little patio just outside the French windows to relax and soak up the last of the day's sun. As day draws to night, retire inside and choose between three bright and airy bedrooms to rest your head, with a ground-floor king-size, as well as a double and a single on the first floor. Mr Porritt, who commissioned the building of Rocklands, was a mill factory director in Lancashire. The grounds were quite extensive but parts have since been sold (some houses on Highfield Road sit on land where the tennis courts were) or gifted (the small wooded area in front of the property was gifted to the authorities with the proviso that it should never be built on). We like to stroll through the Gardens and Promenade when we are in Grange. We occasionally walk from the house to Hampsfell Hospice in addition to these two walks. Grange-over-Sands is a picturesque Edwardian resort nestled between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay, with one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Grange-over-Sands was once a little fishing community, but with the arrival of the Furness Railway, it was converted into a prestigious Edwardian resort. The town now offers a traffic-free promenade, lovely decorative gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts, and superb bird watching to offer visitors.
