Brackenber Lodge rests down a quiet private lane, attached to Brackenber Hall. A country-style lodge tucked away near the market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, it’s perfect for family and friends looking for a well-deserved break. Inside is the open-plan living room waits to give you a warm welcome, hosting a set of light blue sofas crowded round a brightly coloured rug. The oak furniture adds a homely feel, finishing the lounge in style. Adjacent to this is a dining area tucked under the stairs. Step down over quarry tiles to the kitchen, which is fully equipped with a second dining area complete with fitted benches and china tea cups on the far wall. Catch your rest in the twin room on the ground floor, with a lovely outlook of green trees. Upstairs is a double, single and family room resting in the eaves, enhanced by Velux skylights. Head out into the garden area to be greeted by wisteria cascading along a trellis, trees full of red berries, bird feeders and horses grazing in the field behind. A covered porch area is ideal for sitting out with a glass of wine, reminiscing over the day's adventures. The small hamlet of Brackenber is on the fringes of open fields and Appleby Golf Course. Nearby is the village of Brough with pubs, tea rooms and the ruins of Brough Castle. Set in the heart of Eden Valley, steeped in history, Appleby is perfect for touring the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines AONB. A peaceful retreat in the heart of walking country.
Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the leisure centre in the town. Appleby has shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. It is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic Ribblehead viaduct.
