Spend special time with your loved one when you stay at this unique former gatehouse cottage near Dalton-in-Furness. The one-bedroom hideaway nestles within the historic, Grade II-listed building, close to the outskirts of the Cumbrian market town. Sleeping just two guests, but welcoming a canine companion too, the enchanting retreat offers high quality, character-laden accommodation 10 miles from the fringes of the picturesque Lake District National Park.
Wander through the impressive archway and take a step back into the past. Discover your new home from home still features the likes of stained glass, wood panelling, stonework and timber beams. Find yourselves in the lounge/diner, where you can fire up the wood burner and settle on the sofa for a spell, perhaps in front of a film on the Smart TV. Stroll through to the kitchen to make a fresh cup of coffee or a delicious dinner for two before returning to the main room to dine together in elegance. At the end of your indulgent day, climb the stairs up to the first floor, where your double bedroom is situated. There is also an exquisite shower room at this level. Carry your first cup of tea of the day out into the shared garden and soak up the morning sunshine as you plan the adventure ahead of you.
Walk just over 1 mile to the centre of Dalton-in-Furness to shop, dine out and visit 14th-century Dalton Castle. Pack a picnic and drive 15 miles to Coniston Water, where you can embark upon a section of the walking route around its edge, which is 15.5 miles in total. Venture 16 miles to Lakeside on Lake Windermere, to climb aboard a heritage steam train or take an exciting cruise out on the water to experience the spectacular scenery of the national park.
