Flookburgh, a historic village near Morecambe Bay on the borders of the gorgeous Lake District, is an excellent home base from which to explore the surrounding area. Flookburgh was originally a major stop for travellers crossing the sands from Lancaster, and it now provides a home for cockle and shrimp fishers. The local Fluke fish are named after the village. There are two restaurants, a grocery store, a pharmacy, a post office, and two bars in the village. The Cumbrian Coastal Way runs close by, and just a short distance from the settlement you may enjoy beautiful scenery like Humphrey Head, vistas of the bay and its wading bird population, and the mountains of Coniston.
