There are some great walks along the nearby promenade and cycle routes to Blackpool, Cleveleys and Fleetwood. The promenade is popular for sea-fishing, and there are many golf courses nearby.

The charming seaside town of Cleveleys, with its award-winning promenade, is just 2 miles to the north and has a good selection of shops, bars and cafés. Just 3 miles to the south lies the livelier resort of Blackpool where there is a wealth of attractions including Blackpool Tower, The Winter Gardens and Opera House, Sealife Centre, The Sandcastle Waterpark, Madame Tussauds, the Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Zoo. The town hosts many events throughout the year, including the illuminations and also the World Firework Championships, held every Friday in September.
