About this property

A stunning cottage in a secret little valley on the edge of picturesque Kniveton village.

Located in Kniveton, a lovely little village with a beautiful church, this is a very attractive and spacious cottage which is perfect for friends or families to enjoy while exploring the many delights of Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park. Created out of a mellow stone barn, Bosing Barn has been converted with lots of modern features while still managing to retain its original charms. Cosy up in the luxurious lounge, take your favourite tipple out onto the patio or perhaps just wander along the country lane in this secret little valley.

A short walk into the village will take you to the beautiful church and perhaps to the locally renowned pub that's great for a meal or just a real ale pint. You might also fancy jumping in the car for the five minute drive into Victorian Ashbourne with its colourful market square, designer clothes shops, many antique shops and several pubs and restaurants.

Exploring further afield, make sure that you explore historic Wirksworth with its heritage trail and heritage railway. Carsinton Water is another must to visit to try the water sports, cycle hire fishing and bird watching. If you venture further into the Peak District, Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and all the picturesque villages and beautiful Dales with sparkling rivers will beckon.  The view from Calver Edge over wave after wave of Peak District hills will blow your mind!

Fabulous accommodation and hosts were lovely. Everything was clean and of very high standards. Lovely quiet rural setting

Lovely, characterful, well-appointed cottage in a good location for exploring the Derbyshire Dales. Everything one would need for a comfy stay was provided with good modern kitchen and bathrooms. Overall cleanliness was OK but it felt like it needed a deep clean in places - oven and fridge needed a wipe out (old food left in fridge and freezer), wall lights and shades were thick with dust, lounge rug was very dirty. Most disappointing was the outdoor space. It looked very tired and neglected - lawn unmown, pots empty, BBQ rusty, paving weedy and cushions in the outdoor store were so dirty we couldn't use them to sit out. It's worth noting that the "garden" is not enclosed and is open to the stable yard which is quite busy with horses, horse owners and dogs which might be an issue for some folks with their own dogs or small children (was fine for us as we had neither). Would be happy to recommend - just fell short in terms of upkeep but easily resolved.

A wonderful cottage, set down a lane. Very well appointed, friendly owners. If you like animals, you will love it, as there are stables and its very dog friendly. Footpaths leave from the cottage, so you can explore the surrounding villages. There's a local pub, that serves local beers and ales. Home cooked food. There is no shop in the village, so if you need supplies you'll need to pop to Ashbourne. We can recommend the chippy there.
