141 The Hill, Burford is as chic as it sounds! A Grade II listed building that was once a coaching inn for the local merchants who frequently passed through Burford - and hence why locals call it 'The Old White Horse'. You can really feel the history here, especially on the ground floor where original oak paneling, oak parque flooring and thick oak beams surround you. Over the years this house has been carefully loved and maintained which means that you are going to enjoy a truly classic Cotswolds and Burford experience. The thick walls, original stone fireplaces, the mullioned windows and the odd wonky floor upstairs lift your spirits and take you back to an age when life was easier, slower and less stressful. The owners have put their chic stamp (note it's not shabby!!) on the place, it is simple yet comfortable - plenty of antique furniture mixes with soothing colours and a smart leather sofa and armchairs. We even felt we were in a 'club' when we visited - it has that rather "cool" feel to it! Upstairs are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, all similarly smart and attractive. Outside , you have a quirky garden, set down a path and very much a sun trap - but as befits an historic Burford building and its old land rights it's hidden away and part of a collection of little gardens away from your door!!
A venerable old house that is ideal for groups and with every bit of bustling Burford on your doorstep, you can eat, drink and walk to your heart's content.
History awaits. With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and tea shops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.
