About this property

This exquisite Cotswold stone property dating back to the early 16th century is located in the vibrant town of Woodstock. Blenheim Cottage makes for a wonderful holiday home for a small gathering of friends or a family who are seeking to get away from the hustle and bustle and enter total relaxation, surrounded by stunning countryside.

You are welcomed into the property by the bright and airy sitting room which offers a space for you and your loved ones to relax of an evening with the woodburning stove burning in the background as you watch a film on the Smart TV or listen to some great tunes on the vinyl player.

Two steps guide you into the tastefully decorated kitchen/diner, which contains everything you require during your self-catering stay to rustle up delicious, heart-warming meals making use of the Smeg dual fuel Range cooker with an electric oven and four ring gas hob and listening to some tunes on the DAB radio as you cook, before retreating the extendable kitchen table to tuck into your meal.

When night falls, head up the steep, narrow stairs to the first floor where you will find the second bedroom, which contains a super-king-size bed (zip/link, can be twin on request), and the family bathroom with a lovely freestanding bath and a large walk-in shower.

A further steep, narrow staircase leads up directly into the master bedroom in the eaves, which contains a king-size bed.

Outside, steep stone steps lead up straight from the back door to the first garden level, home to a charcoal barbecue and further steps then lead up to the second garden level, where the path weaves its way amongst two well-manicured shrubs to the far end of the garden where there is the third tier, with a bistro table and seating for four.

Take a stroll around Blenheim Park and enjoy the stunning surrounds created by Capability Brown, and marvel at the beautiful Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. A walker’s paradise, the grounds of Blenheim include a great lake, beautiful formal gardens and plenty of off-the-beaten track rambles. Open throughout the year, the grounds are particularly captivating in autumn, and there’s always something going on, from a Christmas craft fair, concerts and Battle Proms, to horse trials and jousting.

Many lovely walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep of the cottage and the delightful town of Woodstock boasts individual shops, tea rooms and many traditional pubs, including The Black Prince and The Boat Inn, a cosy canal side pub with a lovely beer garden.

Woodstock is also a good touring base for exploring the university town of Oxford and its many attractions, or head into the Cotswolds to discover quaint villages and pretty towns, such as Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold and Burford.
