Gunnislake 2 miles. This deceptively spacious holiday chalet is within the grounds of Honicombe Manor Holiday Park, set in the Tamar Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With far-reaching views of the Cornish countryside, this beautifully presented chalet offers modern, spacious, accommodation to please the family and the upside down arrangement gives a light and airy feel to the open plan first floor living room, which opens onto a veranda. With large, soft comfy sofas as good as you would get at home plus a well-equipped kitchen, what better place to spend time with the family cooking local Cornish food, relaxing on the veranda with a glass of wine and admiring the views of The Tamar Valley. There are three ground floor bedrooms together with a ground floor bathroom and separate shower room. The on-site leisure facilities are plentiful, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, tennis, soft play area, restaurant and bar and woodland walks close by along the pretty Cornish lanes. Along the road is a donkey sanctuary and a couple of miles away is the stunning NT property of Cotehele, a beautiful estate by the river Tamar with country house, glorious gardens and quayside visitor centre. The Tamar Trails centre offers a host of activities for families including tree surfing, zip wires, mountain biking, falconry and gentle nature trails. For the less energetic, take a train from Gunnislake to Plymouth, through the spectacular scenery of the Tamar Valley as it passes over the enormous Calstock viaduct on the way to the vibrant marine city, with National Maritime centre, theatres and historic areas full of eateries at the Barbican and Royal William Yard waterside areas. After all this sightseeing, you can return to this cottage to relax and unwind in comfort.
The small rural village of Gunnislake lies on the steeply wooded banks of the River Tamar. It has village pubs and a small selection of shops. Notably, the village sits at one end of the scenic Tamar Valley Railway - with regular services along the river bank to Plymouth.
