No smoking. . 4 Seasons is a perfect all year round hub base for surfers, walkers of the South West Coast Path, and all holiday makers seeking to explore the outstanding beauty of west Cornwall’s breathtaking coastline, beaches, countless heritage and historical sites, and its many museums and art galleries. It is a semi-detached, single-storey cottage, effectively the eastern half of the owners’ farmhouse home, Hope Farm. Pets are most welcome and can be exercised on the farm’s several acres of mown grass fields. The porch leads to a large lobby which is ideal for the pets’ beds. The owners regularly stock the bird feeders in the large lawned garden and a woodpecker is a frequent visitor. An information pack with advice on beaches, restaurants, visitor attractions and maps is provided for guests.

At the toe joint of foot-shaped Cornwall, with easy access to the A30, 4 Seasons is just over 1 mile from Gwithian village on west Cornwall’s north coast and yet only 6 miles from the south coast at St Michael’s Mount. To the immediate north is St Ives Bay with its superb wide sandy bathing and surfing beaches stretching from St Ives around past Carbis Bay to Hayle and the mouth of the River Hayle, and then on again for 3 miles past Gwithian, almost without a break to Godrevy Lighthouse. To the south is Mount’s Bay where at its eastern end is the picturesque historic town of Marazion overlooked by St Michaels Mount, which sits proudly on its rocky island, accessible on foot across a causeway at low tide or by small ferry boat at high tide. Then it’s on along the bay’s beaches to Penzance, then to the commercial but still attractive busy fishing port of Newlyn and then to beautiful Mousehole. Land’s End (England’s most westerly point), Lizard Point (most southerly), and Truro, are each just 20 miles away, Falmouth a little nearer, and St Ives just 7 miles.

West Cornwall’s world-famous coastal path is of course outstanding. A photographer’s dream, there are beautiful small hamlets with colourful fishing boats nestling between rugged cliffs, coves with basking seals, and even the popular open-air Minack Theatre, 16 miles, situated high up on the cliff’s edge above Portscatho. Inland from the coast are many sub-tropical gardens, and the whole area is a must for birdwatchers. Tehidy Country Park with its lakes, adjoining golf course, cafe and miles of pathways, cycle trails and bridleways is 3 miles away. The Chown family business of manufacturing high quality bone china is on site and can be visited by arrangement.

Within a mile from the cottage in Connor Downs village are two really good restaurants, a pub, garage and two excellent farm shops. Then in less than 2 miles is Hayle Retail Park with its major stores and supermarkets, and the further shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants of Hayle are all within 3 miles. Several beaches within 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant within a mile.
