If you can tear yourselves away from this peaceful oasis, then Cornwall awaits. Places of interest to visit range from Fowey, the ancient seafaring town with its annual Royal Regatta and Literary and Arts Festival, outstanding eateries to suit all tastes, local galleries and craft shops, to Bodmin Moor and the north coast for its dramatic clifftop walks and surf culture. These are easily reached from Valleybrook, along with the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, all providing excellent days out.

The Mount Edgcumbe Estate to the east is perched on the edge of the River Tamar, and walks around the extensive gardens and grounds are popular with locals and tourists. The village of Cremyll runs a small ferry across to Plymouth for a completely different experience of shopping, cinemas, theatres and history in the Barbican area, with its narrow lanes steeped in history.
