Carpenters Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage, full of character with slate floors, low beams and even lower doorways, situated next door to the site of the old forge and attached to the site of the old wheelwright's shop where wagons were once made, in the village of Langore, near Launceston.
This is a romantic cottage perfectly located in a quiet setting, but close enough to visit all the many historical towns in the area and also sample the superb selection of pubs and restaurants available.
All the internal joinery is Grade II listed, (where you will be able to find the original roman numeral carpenters marks carved on the somewhat uneven floor).
Ancient wooden stairs lead up to the bedroom with its high vaulted ceiling and en-suite shower room.
The sitting room has a stone fireplace with a decorative cloam oven and logburner, perfect for the cooler evenings.
The adjoining dining area is a delightful spot to enjoy home cooked meals prepared in the well-equipped kitchen which comes complete with granite worktops adding to the character.
Outside there are two patios to capture both the morning and afternoon sun, whilst on the other side of the cottage there is a garden area just perfect for watching the sun go down at the end of the day.
The village of Langore has two acres of open access land including a delightful woodland walk and dog-friendly paddock adjacent to the village green.
Close by is the ancient town of Launceston with its old castle keep and range of shopping and leisure facilities.
The cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful countryside in Cornwall and you are within easy access to Bude, Boscastle, Padstow, Port Isaac and Trebarwith Strand, amongst other lovely villages and beaches. The nearest beach with a beautiful pub, is Crackington Haven, which is 12 miles away. We are also within easy reach of The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. You could drive to Plymouth, Liskeard or Tavistock enjoying the delights of this part of the country on the way.
Also nearby are several coarse fisheries, two golf courses, Launceston steam railway and the delightful Cowslip Workshops, which offer monthly craft/patchwork workshops, as well as a shop, cafe and occasional exhibitions.
A section of the National Cycle Network route 327 follows the beautiful Kensey River valley from Launceston to Egloskerry.
Carpenters Cottage really is the perfect romantic retreat for any time of the year
Launceston is a town resting on the Devon and Cornwall border. Within the town you will find superb architecture including many Georgian buildings and the ruins of a Norman castle.
