The cottage is specifically designed for couples wanting somewhere special to stay for a tranquil getaway. Guests have access to an off-road parking space to get settled in straight away; be welcomed by the traditional character of Swallow Cottage, with quality furnishings, and woodburning stove. The kitchen is well-equipped to cook a home-cooked dinner after the day’s adventures, before choosing a DVD from the collection and putting your feet up on the cushioned corner sofa. When sleep calls, sink into the plush double bed and when you wake, freshen up with a quick shower in the shower room. Outside a charming garden awaits with outdoor seating on a small terrace; why not make dinner an alfresco affair to make the most of your pretty surroundings? Within easy reach of Swallow Cottage, you’ll find Lostwitwhiel a short journey away for delicatessen, butchers, bakers, and Co-op, along with three pubs serving food and individual shops and antiques outlets; Lostwithiel Antique Centre is a popular attraction, where a vast range of household and garden antiques can be found, some of which you can see around the garden. Just east of East Taphouse lies Liskeard, an ancient market town offering a wonderful day out; wander the lovely Moyclare Cornish Garden and find the perfect picnic spot, discover the town’s history at Liskeard Museum and stroll down the narrow streets to find independent shops and eateries. Discover Cornwall’s renowned coastlines by heading south to Polperro, a bustling fishing village with a picturesque harbour to explore, whilst scenic points and popular sites are dotted along the stunning coastline, such as Polperro beach, Chapel Pool, and Spy House Point Lighthouse. Talland Bay Hotel is also a wonderful way to spend a few hours overlooking the sea. Swallow Cottage is on the road leading to the famous fishing port of Looe; pack your towels for a day along the lovely sandy beach, take a short ferry trip to the wildlife haven of Looe Island, followed by lunch in many choices of tearooms and restaurants in Looe or pop across to Hannifore for a fabulous crab roll and a cuppa. With major attractions such as Charlestown Harbour, The Eden Project, and The Lost Gardens of Heligan, you can walk in the footsteps of Daphne du Maurier whilst experiencing the beauty of Cornwall. There is nothing like a tranquil country town like that of Fowey, tucked away in a valley surrounded by forests and meadows. Antique shops and dealers abound as well as quaint country taverns, eateries, and an active farmer's market in this quaint town known for its antiques and collectibles. Nearby attractions include the National Trust's Lanhydrock House and grounds, as well as Boconnoc House, the Eden Project's shipwreck museum, Charlestown's tall ship harbour, and attractive fishing villages Mevagissey, Fowey, and Padstow. For wonderful family fun in this picturesque area that includes world-famous Newquay and the rolling Atlantic surf and miles of white sand beaches, head to Cornwall's north coast, where you'll find attractions like the world-famous surf break and towering cliffs. Activities like tug of war, Carnival, and outboard motor races for seagulls are also organised by the friendly locals.
