Rose Cottage in Cornwall receives high praise for its charming character, beautiful garden, and peaceful location. Guests appreciate the warm welcome, including thoughtful touches like a welcome tray. The property's traditional features, such as thatched roofing and creaky floorboards, add to its appeal, while the surrounding area offers lovely walks and scenery. Some guests mention minor maintenance issues, but overall, the cottage provides a comfortable and memorable stay.
Most guests found Rose Cottage to be clean and welcoming, with a few noting it was spotless upon arrival. However, there were comments about dust and a leaky shower, suggesting room for improvement in cleanliness for some visitors.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, stunning views, and proximity to local walks and villages. The peaceful setting in Cornwall and the nearby pub add to the cottage's appeal, although the remote nature may not suit everyone.
Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a warm atmosphere. Some guests, however, noted issues with lounge seating and the early check-out time, which slightly impacted the comfort level.
The cottage is well-equipped and guests appreciate the spacious kitchen and garden. Maintenance issues like a leaky shower, difficult-to-open windows, and the need for more glassware are noted, indicating that while facilities are good, there is room for improvement.
The welcome tray with treats and wine is frequently mentioned and appreciated by guests, showcasing the host's thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gestures, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.
Perfect for those seeking a countryside escape, the chocolate-box 16th century Rose Cottage sits peacefully overlooking fields, just outside the sleepy village of Manaccan on the South Helford. Absolutely charming, the cottage brims with traditional features - a thatch roof, beamed ceilings, stained glass window and an Inglenook fire place and is beautifully and thoughtfully presented. On the ground floor, the spacious sitting room is wonderfully comfortable and welcoming, with a collection of books and board games for evenings in by the fire. The lovely farmhouse kitchen floods with light each morning, and leads out on to the south-facing terrace and garden; a fabulous spot to sit and enjoy the views on a balmy summer's evening. Upstairs, there are three shabby-chic bedrooms with plenty of storage, and a family bathroom with lovely freestanding, roll-top bath. Pretty as a picture, the creeks and woodland of the South Helford offer many beautiful walks and plenty of opportunity to get out on the water. Hire a kayak or sailboat and spend the day pootling along in the Cornish sunshine, perhaps stopping at a hidden inlet for a waterside picnic before heading home. Or why not relax and catch the passenger ferry to Helford Passage; here you can visit the stunning sub-tropical gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. The village of Manaccan is home to a traditional inn and there is a shop in the village of Mawgan (approx 6 miles). Perfectly positioned for a holiday of rest and relaxation, Rose Cottage is one to return to year after year.
The pretty village of Manaccan offers local facilities including post office/stores, 16th Century Inn and a cafe/bistro. The village is on the Lizard peninsula in south Cornwall and is about five miles southwest of Falmouth. Manaccan lies within the Cornwall area of outstanding natural beauty.

The garden is generous and looks out over the countryside. There is good off-road parking and the garden was secure for our large dog. Lots of lovely small seaside villages to visit and countryside/coastal walks all within easy driving distance. There are many public footpaths around the village too. Would definitely recommend this as a destination. The only slight drawback is if you are over 5â10 as there are a couple of low doorways and beams (mentioned in the property description) The dog and I were fine but the husband suffered a couple of times!!! All in all, a great holiday and we would stay at Rose Cottage again.

The cottage was a lovely place to spend a few days in and explore the area from. I would recommend that either a photo of the stairway or some text in the info to say that there is no hand rail for those who have mobility issues. The other info which needs updating is the pub a few minutes walk away is closed for renovation for some time ahead, as does the pubs own website!
